Ok I really need some help here. Coming the first week of June for 7 nights with my husband, daughter, teenage son and 3 year old grandbaby. We always stay at the moderate resorts (usually one of the port Orleans or Caribbean beach) but decided this year to try the Poly! Well with everyone complaining about the construction and now seeing that that the monorail will be on limited hours I'm wondering if it's worth the price difference of $1200!! I was very excited about trying the Polynesian out this time but now having second thoughts. Any opinions from anyone that has stayed at both resorts would be appreciated!

How about trying a different monorail resort? The CR or GF have huge comfortable rooms and are great resorts. Another option would be a FW cabin.

The current construction is not nearly as extensive as it has been, but it apparently isn't limited to the quiet pool. I cancelled our Nov reservations for the Poly and moved to the GF. If I had a small child in a stroller, I would move to the CR. If the monorail isn't running, you can walk from the CR to the MK in about 5 minutes. Very convenient to the MK!

If you only want the Poly, I would stay with POR for this time around.

What about the Wilderness Lodge? Most likely cheaper than Poly and you won't have to worry about monorail delays but still get a little more than POR.

ETA: Nevermind missed the 5th person in the room. In that case I'd go with Poly. The extra space will be worth it.

Stay @ the poly i guess, but be prepared. Bring umbrellas for the pool for shade and you may be sitting/ laying right on top of another guest poolside. Sigh.

Do your teenage son and daughter mind sleeping in the same bed? The pull down bed at POR is too small for a teen, so I assume the grandbaby is sleeping there? At least at the poly you get a daybed where your son can sleep. I would just request a room away from the quiet pool where the construction has moved on to; the main pool and lobby are finished. Or change to the CR if you plan to spend a lot of time at MK.

I was under the impression the POR has pull down beds also. Are they just for small children?

They're designed for kids 10-11 or under. But I do know some small teens or very small adults have used them.

This. They're about 66 inches long and 30 inches wide. I believe the pull down murphy beds in the Poly bungalows and the CBR are about this size, so really built more for children.

Have you considered the cabins at Fort Wilderness? It would be cheaper than the poly, have a boat to MK, and lots of fun stuff to do (campfire sing a long with Chip and Dale, Hoop De Doo review, pony rides). There's room for 6 and a kitchen. The one thing I didn't like was most people recommend renting a golf cart, but your kids would probably love that! Also the AOA studios have more beds for everyone and 2 bathrooms, and are lots of fun for a toddler! Plus I hear the food court there is one of the better ones.
