Poly v. CP Garden Wing?

Love the Poly but could get a garden wing room at the Contemporary for a little cheaper. Would like to save $. Can anyone who has stayed at both the Poly and in a garden wing room at the CP weigh in? How far a walk is it from the garden wing to the main building where the monorail is? Theming wise I think Poly wins hands down. But I'd like to try something different, too. What do you think?

I have stayed at BOTH, but in the tower at Contemporary. We have walked by the wing rooms and I would have to say it takes the same amount of time to walk from the wing to monorail/inside as it would from some longhouses to monorail/GCH. If it is a $100.00 difference I say go for POLY unless you like the modern look of the rooms. The hotel is nice, but to me seems more business like. How about the WIlderness?

Have satyed at the Polynesian, and in both the wing rooms and tower at CR. The wing rooms are identical to the tower rooms in regard to size, amenities, etc. The walk from the farthest point of the wing (by the lake) to the tower is probably equidistant to that of the farthest longhouse to the GCH. If you are at the farthest point, room wise, you can exit outside and cut across the grounds making it a little shorter walk. Ground floor rooms at the CR have patios, 2nd and 3rd floor wing rooms have sliders that you can open but no balcony or step out if that makes a difference. We used to always stay in the old North wing when our girls were little, ground floor granted you a patio to sit and watch them play at the old playground without having to actually be right there with them. Years ago, (ten or so) a room in the wing could generally be reserved for ~$150 a night with a discount. Oh the good old days!

Well, you can walk to the MK from the CR. You can't do that at the Polynesian. But you can walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center from the Polynesian and get a monorail to Epcot. At CR you have to catch the monorail to the TTC and then change to the Epcot monorail.

We've stayed at both. I think I liked the wing rooms better. We did have a balcony at the Polynesian (third floor Tahiti - but not all floors have balconies) and we didn't have one in the Wing Room. The wing room was very large, but it felt cozy because the building is relatively small and you can take the stairs instead of waiting for an elevator. At the Polynesian, you don't need to wait for an elevator either since those buildings are also smaller.

Honestly, we enjoyed them both very much.
At either resort, you could find yourself located a little bit of a walk away from the main building/monorail. So I would rate them equally for that.

The CR has the advantage of being within walking distance of MK. During our last Poly stay, the monorail was down a lot, requiring a bus to get from MK to Poly at closing. We were envious of CR guests who could stroll back to their rooms.

We like both themes- but they are very different. Poly feels more relaxing, CR more urban and "bustling". If it were in my budget to stay at either, I think we would alternate between the two each year.
