Does the Poly offer turndown service for a regular garden view rooms? I think I remember reading that you have to call for turndown at the Poly. But I don't remember if that was for all types or rooms or just concierge.

We usually stay at GF, which has automatic turndown for everyone, but are considering the Poly in a couple weeks for $50 less a night.

Thanks

All Disney deluxe resorts offer turn down service, regardless of room. According to the policy, only concierge guests receive it automatically. Standard rooms have to request it, but I've also stayed in regular garden view rooms at the GF and it's been automatic. You can always request it at check-in or give housekeeping a call from your room. In fact, at the GF, the robes that are already in the closets in the concierge rooms, are also available by request for anyone staying at the resort. Not sure about the Poly, but if you read through the resort information that they give you at check-in, it might mention it there also.

Really, all Deluxe resorts have this service? We are checking in the WL on December 5 and it would be neat to have this for one night just for fun. I know that sounds silly but the girls would get a kick out of it, and me too.:teeth:

Yes, the WL does have turn down service. Only one night though? The girls might like it and want it done every night ;) .

Ok, Ok I will do it for the girls. These trips are all about them and making them happy.:teeth:

Okay, I'm ignorant. What's turn-down service? I've stayed at hotels (like Poly and non-disney ones) that offer it, but never experienced it. I guess I had to request it. So what is it?

As stated, turn down service is offered at the Disney deluxe resorts. Sometime between 5 and 10pm, a member of the mousekeeping staff will visit your room. They'll turn down the covers on your bed and depending on the resort, leave chocolates and maybe a little good night poem. In addition, they will also replenish any towels and/or toiletries that you used during the day (after mousekeeping made up your room). A light will be left on for you and either the TV or the radio will be on. If you have children who've brought along stuffed animals, they usually take a minute and arrange them in cute scenes. We've come back to find our daughters Stitch doll wearing her sunglasses and holding the TV remote, or reading a book. Just a little bit of Disney magic at the end of the day.

Wow, thank for the reply. I know you should tip for this, when and approx how much? Thanks so much. I can't wait to try it!

Everyone has their own opinion about tipping and this is just mine. I usually leave about $3.

One of the things that I love about a trip to Disney is all the fun you can have planning. For the tips, I've taken standard envelopes and decorated them with stickers and drawings. Then I mark which service that particular envelope is for (mousekeeping or turndown) and I'll even put the date on it. Before leaving home, I'll figure out what money I need for tips and then stop by the bank and get my $1 dollar bills. I fill the envelopes at home and when I get to the resort, I leave them inside the in-room safe. Makes it easy in the morning to just pull out the right envelope and you're not stuck searching for $1's. I normally leave the Mousekeeping envelope on the hamper or the vanity in the bathroom and for turn-down service, I leave it on the nightstand. Having them clearly marked is great too if you're not planning on coming back to your room during the day. You can leave them both out and the right service will get the correct envelope. You can also check out this site, http://users.adelphia.net/~heidiw/. She's gone ahead and created artwork that you can print right onto your envelope.

We stayed at GF in a GV room last September and had automatic turn down service as well as robes in the room. When I called housekeeping to request turn down service I was told that all GF guests receive it, not just Concierge. Robes are also in all GF rooms now. Maybe it is a new policy.

At other deluxe resorts you do need to call and request turn down service - just be sure to tell them you want it for your entire stay. Although we did call when we arrived at AKL (and every morning after that), but we never received turn down service even once! Not my favorite resort and will probably not stay there again. That's not the only reason though! :)
