Looking at both for these for a family of 5... 16, 14 and 9 year old... space is important.. Looking for advice here...

Have only been in a GF studio. If space is important I wouldn't be squishing 5 people into a studio while they have 5 beds you will be on top of each other the whole time. We had 3 in a GF studio (DH, Me, 8yo) and it was okay but on our next trips with 4 people we are moving up to a 1 bedroom so we will have more room.

Make sure you pack light with 5 in a studio because the beds take up your storage space.

If looking at a single studio. They are slightly larger at PVB. When the Murphy Bed is folded down, VGF has less walking space. Tikiman has a picture somewhere showing the difference between the PVB and VGF studio when the Murphy bed is down. In a single studio, I would choose PVB.

If looking at 1BR at VGF vs two connecting studios at PVB.
VGF 1BR will be larger, have a kitchen, dining table, King bed in the bedroom, Jacuzzi tub in master bathroom area, and larger living room for everyone to gather.
PVB connecting studios aren't guaranteed (but they are the first request filled and extremely likely to be received). Includes two queen beds, 2 queen sleeper sofas, 2 Murphy beds, 4 showers, 4 bathroom sinks, 2 toilets, 2 balconies.
For some, the luxury provided in the 1BR bedroom with the kitchen is a priority. For others, two real beds and extra bathroom space of two connecting studios will be a preference.

One warning with PVB. The resort will continue to be under construction. Disney will not provide a timeline for construction because unexpected things happen and too many people want to file lawsuits against them. Poly construction completion estimates range from January 2016 to July (maybe August) 2016.

Only you and your family know what works best for you.

If it's those 2 and nothing else then Poly has larger studios.

Interesting how folks seem to like Poly studios over VGF, but dislike Poly in general as a DVC offering because it's all studios or expensive bungalows. Sort of shows me that folks don't dislike the studios but dislike that they don't have other options. By the way, I'm not making a assessment of whether any specific person likes or dislike Poly, I've just been asking questions and reading threads and that's the general feeling I've gotten.

The Poly studio is definitely wider and has more walk around space.

Stayed at the Poly in July also a party of five. Three boys, 16,15+13 and space, surprisingly , was not an issue. We were in PAGO PAGO on floor 3 overlooking the pathways(refused parkinglot view) and loved it. The Murphy is a full sized twin and accommodated the 15 year old no problem. It also has a huge shower room which was a great help. Not sure but I think this a converted older building hence the large size of the room. Really enjoyed every aspect of the resort from the room size, beach fireworks at night, dole whip station quiet walk ways and more. This was our 1st stay at Poly now the last on our list is VGF so I can't speak to that. Either was is a can't miss in my estimation. Good Luck.

I think it depends on your trip, each trip is different. The bathrooms are set up slightly differently, if that makes a difference. In the VGF studios, one side is a tub and toilet, the other side is shower and sink, with a sliding door between them. In the Poly studios, one side is a tub, toilet, and sink, and the other side is a shower and sink, no door between them.

But other than that, part of the decision should be what you are doing on this trip and what you prefer. Like if you're planning on several fancy meals in the GF restaurants, you may want to stay there. Or if you're planning on half the time going over to Epcot, the Poly might be more convenient to walk to the Epcot monorail. Or if you have a fitness junkie who needs to quickly workout every morning, the VGF are right across from the spa building.

If I were going to have 5 in a studio, it would definitely be at the Poly. We loved, loved that studio, and I think it definitely would be doable. I would do it once to see if it was enjoyable.

You do not mention when you intend to go. In choosing be aware that the VGF studios can fill very quickly at the 11 month booking window open only to members who own at the resort, and during the last quarter of the year and through marathon weekend in Jan, there are times that you cannot get them even at 11 months out. With Poly, you should try to book within the 11 month window for times during that last quarter of the year and through marathon weekend in Jan, but for most of the rest of the year, you will find Poly open at the 7 month boking window when members of any DVC resort can reserve there.

As to size, the VGF studio is close to 375 sq ft and Poly rclose to 450, although a good portion of its additional sq footage is in its larger bathrooms.
