Poly room - patio or balcony?

We want to request the Tahiti building at the Poly and I was wondering if people like the patio rooms or the balcony rooms better. We have booked a Lagoon view room.

Rooms in Tahiti have either patios on the first floor or balconies on the second and third. It depends on your preference. With a patio you're closer to the lagoon - and ducks, who will hang out on your patio, more so if you eat out there!

We prefer the patio! Tahiti has a great beach, with swing etc.. and you just walk off your patio and your there! The ducks and friends come by daily to visit. Its really a great building, and view! We even like the location, its really not a "far" walk, we like being near the TTC, too you get right to the epcot monorail! There is also a parking section closer to this area, in front of rapa nui, in case you have a car. The 2 sinks are the best! Have a great time!

I second the patio!!
I love to walk out of the sliding glass doors and be right on the beach!

I also think I would like this building but I definitely want a balcony, my DD can open the sliding door at home and I'm concerned about her wandering off to see Mickey on her own!

Did anyone else have this concern? How did you phrase your request and did you get what you wanted?

When we were at the Tahiti building, the sliding glass doors had an additional lock at the top (so only adults or ingenious kids that use a chair , can open it when it is locked.

We like the first floor also....

The ducks, bunnies and lizards are just priceless!!!!!

how were the views of the fireworks and the Castle from Tahiti? could you see it from the Patio?

I prefer the balconies over the patios. We stayed at the Polynesian last year and had third floor rooms in Tokelau, I loved the different perspective you get by being off the ground a couple of floors. The balcony itself is very spacious (especially compared to the balconies at WL and AKL).

A balcony provides more privacy than a first floor since you aren't at eye level of everyone walking the grounds. I also don't care for the duck waste that accumulates on the patios when people feed them from on high!

Then, of course, there are those people that throw things from the balconies to the ground--food for the ducks, rabbits, etc. that manage to end up on the patio. It's okay IF the maid cleans the patio daily--we have never found that to happen, however. At night I just feel better being up high rather than at ground level--less creepy crawlie action up top and away from the vegetation.

It's all subjective though--you may prefer that type of contact with the wildlife.

We enjoyed our patio room in the Rarotonga building at the Poly several years ago. We faced the quiet pool, but there were several large hedges adding some privacy for people who may be walking by and looking over at the rooms.

We had our daily visits from two ducks who my kids nicknamed Pitter and Patter. Yes, they "messed" on the patio, but our maid was great and she cleaned it off every day! In fact, feeding the ducks is one of our favorite memories from that trip!
