Hello. I know that room location requests are not guaranteed. At this point I don't know enough about the resort to even have a preference. Our top priorities are smoke-free and quiet. Close walking distance to transportation and food and a balcony would also be nice. A particular view is not that important to us. What would you suggest?

For quiet...I suggest Rapa Nui. it's farthest from the pools and GCH.....but right next to the walkway to the TTC.
Or Rarotonga......is right next to the GCH, but far enough away from the main pool to be quiet.
Tahiti is farthest from the GCH and main pool, but right on the beach. Nice and quiet.
I don't think any of those 3 are smoking. As for the balcony....some do not have balconies on the 2nd floor....not sure which. But you can request that on your reservation.

No matter where you end up....the buildings are all close enough together that IMHO....they are all close enough to the GCH.

Rapa Nui, Tahiti and Tokelau all have 2 & 3rd floor balconies. Don't know when you are going but Tahiti is currently concierge while Hawaii is being renovated.

If it were me, I would just request smokefree and quiet with a balcony and leave the magic up to the Polynesian. I think every building at the Polynesian has advantages and none of them are too far from the GCH and transportation.

I stayed at the Roatonga it was good location because you we so close to the GCH if you needed to get drink refills and any eats

DjDisney,

What room did you stay in?

I've been hearing that Roratonga is badly in need of rehab. Did you notice anything, because I would love to stay there for the convenience of being so close to GCH.

We go in September with a 3 & 4 year old so the less walking the better!

Thanks for your feedback in advance!

Hi drcmk, I was at the Poly in early June and requested the Samoa longhouse, ground floor and got just what I asked for. The Samoa longhouse is very close to the GCH, Capt. Cooks and right between the main pool and quiet pool. I never heard any noise from my room. Hope this helps, enjoy your stay at the Poly, it truly is a wonderful resort and my favorite!

Good luck!

Hello I stayed in room 1803 ground floor it was a 2 second walk across one sidewalk to the GCH . If I could do it again I would want to have a room a floor up higher but it was so so nice there you will love it. Make sure to watch fantacy in the sky from the beach one night its great. have fun

Thanks Dj,

I'll be watching from the beach on Sept. 29 according to the hours just released. Rarotonga seems like an ideal location, I think I may request a balcony room based on your mention instead of patio.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Why would you not request a ground floor next time? (I was going to request one and just wanted to know any negatives that might be associated with it.)

Thanks!

hello, The ground floor had a patio that had a blocked view by the various plants that are growing all over the resort allthough they are very nice and set the mood they do block allot of the ground floor rooms views in this area of the poly. and with all the rain you get there this season it is very wet on the bottom floor from the ground splatter. I am not sure if this is the case in all the long houses I did see some with unubstructed views. I just love the idea of a balcony more. I just got back from the WL this past Sun and had a wonderful room with a balcony . enjoy the resort it is a great expirence. PS eat at the Kona cafe

There is much good information at Tikiman's Site . And, from there, if you go into the Polynesian Forum, there is a thread about distances/walking times for all the longhouses.
