I'd really appreciate some suggestions, having never stayed at the Poly before. I'm taking my mother and my 8 year old daughter for a 4 night stay. We're booked into a Garden view room. Mom will probably rent an ecv for the stay. Can you give me plusses and minus to the bldgs? I'm going to request a ground floor room due to the ecv, but which one? Do I understand correctly some have been rehabed, and some haven't? I like the idea of staying closer to the TTC, but then I think, I really won't like the walk to the GCH?

I've stayed at the Poly twice (love it!), but always on the "luau" side. I can't tell you about the other longhouses, but when we stayed in Aotearoa my Dad was using an ECV. It was a very short drive to the GCH from there. Also, there's a convenient ramp on that side of the GCH for scooters. Is there a ramp on the pool side? That might be something to consider, if you're looking to save time and steps. He rented his ECV too. The company made the process a snap - the scooter was waiting in the lobby when we checked in, and they were there to pick it up when we checked out.

As for the rehab, when are you going? Really, the last rehab was done only about 4-5 years ago, so I can't imagine even the non-rehabbed rooms will be THAT bad! :sunny:

Here's a link to the Allears site that has a map of the grounds showing the locations of each longhouse:

Personally, I'd rather be close to GCH. We head there frequently for drinks, the restaurants, shops, and transportation to everything except Epcot.
I'm not sure of the rehab schedule. I read on another post that Rapa Nui was done. Samoa is a great location, but I believe it is not updated yet. You could call the resort for the latest information.
Have a wonderful trip!

You might want to check out Tikiman's website as well, he has a lot of info about the different buildings. I don't have the link on this computer, but if you google Tikiman, it should be easy to find!

Thanks for the input! I would go to tikiman's site, but it's temporarily down... and has been since I decided to book the Poly! :sad1:

bettywales, where did your father rent an ecv from?

If you follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES Board, you will find a lot of info about ecvs.
Near the top of the disABILITIES Board, there is a disABILITIES FAQs thread which includes links to the companies DIS posters have reported good experiences renting ecvs from.

I think I would request Tokelau if you want to be close to both the TTC and GCH. Rapa Nui is a building with many accessible rooms and is the closest to the TTC but farther to the GCH. And it sounds as if you don't need an accessible room?

Tokelau, Rapa Nui and Tahiti all have larger rooms which will come in handy with an ECV in the room.
