I know it is a matter of preference but would like to have opinions on where to spend 7 nights with 2 sons, their wives and 4 children ages 4,5,8,9. We can get either Poly or YC for about the same price. Thanks for your comments.

I haven't been to the YC, but our children are (4,5,8) this year and we decided on the Poly over YC/BC for three reasons...

1. Rooms are larger.

2. Monorail access- quick jaunts back/forth to Magic Kingdom where we really spend most our time.

3. The Volcano Pool- our son loves volcanoes and we've heard great things about the Neverland Club where you can let your children play for a couple of hours while mom/dad get a nice quiet dinner.

Hope this helps! Have a wonderful time with your family and their families!!

We have stayed at both and loved both. With kids those ages I would recommend the Polynesian. Altho storm-along Bay is such a great pool, it is also hard to keep track of small children - very easy for them to go to other parts of the large pool. The Polynesian has a pool with a great slide for kids those ages. (To use the one at SAB they have to be good swimmers) The zero-entry at the pool is also great for the little ones. Being on the mono-rail is great too.

But we also love the YC for the pool, location - easy access to EPCOT and MGM...

If it's an option, I would recommend splitting your stay between the two resorts if you are having a hard time deciding. We are trying that for the first time our next trip as it's getting harder and harder to pick just one resort since they all offer different things.

I agree with Tara's reasons. I also find the atmosphere much more relaxing at the Polynesian and prefer the outside walks with the beautiful landscaping to the long, narrow interior halls at Y&B.

Althought he BC decor is my favourite in all of WDW :), I'd choose the Poly. The monorail access can't be beat. It allows you the ability to pop back to your resort easily from MK & Epcot plus you have a wider variety of restaurants close at hand. SAB is a great pool but it can get very, very crowded.

I've stayed at both, and I prefer the Yacht Club. Stormalong is the best pool on property, and it has something for every age. You can walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk, so there's always something to do. My kids loved the boat to MGM and Epcot. I also think the YC is brighter and cheerier than the Poly. If you think you'll spend most of your time at the Magic Kingdom, though, I'd go with a monorail resort.

Having stayed at both, it's really a crapshoot; there are good reasons to stay at both. But I think with the family you are traveling with, I would give the edge to the YC for the pool, Beaches and Cream, proximity to Epcot, and the game room adjacent to Beaches and Cream. As long as the parents stay with the kids there should be no problem with the pool, and there is a fantastic kiddie sections with adult chairs as well. Whatever you decide, have fun!

I agree - if you would not mind switching hotels that you should !My husband and I just came back and we split our stay between AKL and the Poly and we will definately do it again. Our time was so great it was like we had two vacations in one. We were in WDW for 8 days. Next time we are going to stay an extra 3 or 4 nights.

both are wonderful!
those are my two favorite resorts.
If you plan on spending most of your time at MK, then the Poly is the best choice. If you want Epcot and MGM, then the YC is perfect.
the pool at the YC is by far better! storm a long bay is unbeatable, and the rooms at the YC are brighter and a bit smaller but I like them better.
however... the atmosphere and theming at the Poly are amazing!

sorry couldnt help more, but imho, either resort is the perfect choice!!

Laura :)
