I just found out that Stormalong Bay will be closed while we are going to be there the first week in March. With two small children in tow, we were really looking forward to swimming. Now I have a major problem. I have booked the land/sea vacation, and now I must switch my hotel choice. This will be our first time in the parks, and I need your help to decide between these two resorts. I have two DS 9 and 4. HELP!!

We stayed recently at the CR, in the north garden wing. We liked it, but it is not my favorite WDW resort. We had a big, spacious, colorful and nice room, but it was a LONG walk to the tower/monorail. The pool was mediocre, and the landscaping impeccable but plain.

I prefer the Poly theming and landscpe, and the pool is more fun. I haven't stayed there for many years, but the rooms there are very big, as well, and although the resort is spread out so you could be walking as far as we did at the CR, the walk is beautiful because of the landscaping.

My personal preference is the Poly, but if you choose the CR, go for the tower rooms if you can afford them. Lucky you to stay at a monorail resort, though!!!!

We just stayed at the Contemp two weeks ago with my DDs - 7 and 5 1/2 - and we all loved it. Though I will agree that the tower is the way to go ... I don't think we would have enjoyed it nearly as much if we would've been in the wings.

If you stay in the tower, everything is close, close, close. The talking elevators are quick, the monorail is just downstairs, Chef Mickey's of course, you can walk to MK, the arcade is huge, the rooms are big .... all in all, I can't say enough about how much we loved the Contemp.

If your young children will want to be spending alot of time at the MK, as ours did, CR is very convienent. We walked all of the time but once (took the monorail back from MK after MVMCP) because it was so quick and easy with the double stroller. The CR is nearly as close as the bus stops from other resorts at the MK. We were in the North Wing and enjoyed it very much. The tower would have been wonderful but the wings are great IMO. Practically every night on our way back from the parks (whether from MK or from our car) we would take a peak into the gift shop and the trading pin station. It was a nice wind down to the day. The CM who manned the pin station was so friendly and nice with the kids. We caught the water parade a few times on our walk back to the room. If you can spring for the tower, do, but don't sweat it if the wings are what you can afford. We never did use the pool ( the two times it felt nice enough to swim we went to Blizzard Beach) but the slide looked fun. We loved Chef Mickey's and the California Grill. We are very fond of the CR.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Why don't you show the kids pics of both resorts and let them pick which they like better?:D

Have a magical trip!

My young kids were much more excited about being in the resort with the monorail running through it than they were about anything we saw at the Poly. We have stayed in the tower twice and in the North Garden Wing once and we like either. We only visited the Poly and ate at Ohana, but based on that visit, we would pick the Contemporary.

We're a family of 5 and stayed at Poly once and CR 14 times - CR by unanimous vote. Stay in the tower if possible. Monorail running through with easy access from tower, chef mickeys, pin trading, game room, pools, views, best bus service for non-monorail parks, and the best CM's anywhere.

If you are switching due to the pool, I'd take the Poly with it's new volcano pool.

WOW!! I knew the DIS was great. Thank you one and all for your comments. I just got off the phone with my TA--DH had the final say, and he chose the Poly. Does anyone know if they put land/sea guests in certain building at the Poly?? Thanks again for all of your input, it was much appreciated.
