Poly Luau or Backyard BBQ?

We usually go to the HDDR, but next time we're thinking about trying something new.

What's the Luau like? I've heard some mixed reviews, but also that they're updating it or something. Is there AC at all...we will be there in July and I KNOW if it's too hot DH won't have a good time.

We would also consider the Backyard BBQ. I have only heard a little about this so any info would be helpful. Is this indoors or outdoors? What's the character interaction like? How's the food? Is it similar to HDDR?

BTW, did anyone know the the Hoop Dee Doo song is a Perry Cuomo song. I just found this out from my father!!!

BYBBQ --- STINKS. food is good entertainment is bad. Save your money.

Poly havent done in yrs but did enjoy it when i went

I feel the the same the bybbq was not that good, you had to stand in lines to see the characters the food was ok, it was not what we expected at all. the poly luau was good the food was good and the show was good, it is more like the hddr then the bbq. jubury

Thanks. That's too bad about the BBQ, the kids were asking about it (DS bought a BYBBQ pin that's adorable).

Is the luau air conditioned? This is a make or break thing for my DH. Also will the kids enjoy the show...they LOVE the corny jokes at the HDDR?

Luau Cove is out side. The have ceiling fans. It could be very warm if you don't get the cool down daily rain.

IMHO, I think that the BBQ is better for the kids, I know they have to stand in line for food and for the characters, that part stinks, but I think the entertainment at the Luau is more adult oriented (although they will like the guy juggling fire). The two actors at the BBQ tell corney jokes and the lady is forever after the guy (at least that is what happened when we went) and I heard alot of kids laughing hysterically at that. Plus they really enjoyed the guy spinning his rope.

I personally wouldn't do either again, however I liked the BBQ better (we did both on our honeymoon in Sept. 2001)

I didn't like the Luau's food and they bring you your drinks so they kinda limit your alcohol intake where as at the BBQ you do up and get your own (that is really DH talking, he liked that part)

In my opinion, the Hoop de do is my favorite, I enjoy the entertainment, and the food is yummy.

Ohh yeah, and they are both held outdoors (Although they are both under cover), so there is no AC that I know of...probably fans, but I didn't notice since it was nice weather while we were there.
