Poly longhouses with LOW showerheads!?

On our last 2 trips to the Poly we were put in Aotearoa, where the showerheads are ridiculously low. Such a bummer to pay that much money and have to duck while taking a shower (and I'm only 5'5!). I didn't complain (well, I did complain, but not to the hotel) or demand to be moved, but mentioned it at checkout, where the woman said they get many complaints about it, and that when it was built the building codes weren't what they are today.

Anyone know which longhouses DON'T have these ridiculous shower heads? If I happen to get one again, I will definitely request a switch this time, but hope I can avoid the situation all together by requesting a longhouse that I know doesn't have this problem!

Ironically my husband is a plumber (in a state where there's really strict codes) so this drove him absolutely crazy!:scared:

The Poly opened in 1971 and expanded in 1985, so I do think the codes would have been different on height and the like. Since it is not a safety or disability accommodation situation, it is highly unlikely that it will be changed in normal renovations. It would require changes in the actual plumbing and pipes to change the height.

If there is any chance for a higher shower head, it would be in the rooms added in 1985 I would think.

Wow, has no one else experienced this? I like to think of myself as not much of a complainer, but after shelling out that much money for a room at the Poly, and having not complained the last 2 times, I think I've earned a regular-height shower head! :)

So, does anyone know which are the newer buildings? I'm thinking a newer building might have what I'm looking for!

Thanks again!

I'm very short so didn't notice, but DH is 6'3" and he's never mentioned it on any of our Poly stays.

I am 5"1' so shouldn't be an issue for me :rotfl:...I have problems reaching stuff that is up too high, never anything too low :)

We stayed in Tahiti on our visit last month and the shower head seemed fine to both me and my DH (he is 5'10"). Also very close to the TTC so direct monorail to Epcot & MK, direct busses to AK and DHS, and a boat launch to MK closer than the ones at GCH! :thumbsup2

You're so right! We stayed in Samoa and I hated having to crouch down to wash my hair. I'm 6"1. My only regret with the poly.

Yes! Thank you Big Papa - I was beginning to think we were crazy! Our only regret as well.

I think I've decided on Tahiti as a request - newer building, TPV. Let's see how many times I change my mind before I book it! :confused3

Stayed in Tokelau and Tahiti and had low shower heads BOTH times.

I'm not much of a complainer either. And this doesn't seem like too much of anything they're going to fix. So never said a word about it.
