I have taken my DD the past 2 summers (CBR & POR). Really liked them both and moderate resorts are right up my ally as a single mother. We went to the Aloha Dinner Show on our last trip and fell in love with just the lobby at the Poly...but I could not possibly swing that resort on my budget. I am desperately hoping to make a Christmas trip and was thinking of Coronado Springs, but Poly is still in the back of my mind! I have read these boards over and over again and realize there is no rhyme or reason to getting one of these codes. I have requested a planning DVD...twice, I have called CS, I checked my email and mail box everyday. UGH!!! What's a Disney Mom to do!?!?:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Welcome to the club! The Polynesian is our favorite. :goodvibes

I've always dreamed of staying at the POLY too. I've decided to take the plundge. I'm going the first week in Dec. so I'm just going to save as much as I can before we go. I cannot wait! I'm also doing the dining plan. I bought it two years ago and although it's changed since then, it's still quite a deal for my family. I make sure to go to character meals and make steak and seafood dinner choices to make sure I get my $$ worth.

A good tip about the Character meals. I love them becasue then I don't have to stand in lines in the park to see them as they visit your table at the rest. Most character meals are considered one sit down, including Chef Mickey's

Enjoy your trip. I'll be hoping for the POLY for you.

We are members of Disney Vacation Club and splurged once and used our points for the Polynesian. Many will say it is not worth using that many points but it was well worth it to us. It was the most fabulous place we have every stayed (including the DVC resorts). If I ever save up enough points to stay there again, I will.

I am sending some pixie dust your way hoping that the next time you call reservations, you have a 40% off code attached to your name. As a single mom you have the hardest job of all and deserve a little extra magic!:wizard:

I can use all the pixie dust I can get!!! My DD would like to have her BFF (calls her her sister) come along this year too! Her mother and I are very close and she went through a divorce this year, so she is also now a single mom and also on a budget! Dont get me wrong, the moderate resorts are fabulous...I have always loved them, but that POLY sure would be nice! Just cant figure on how to swing it financially! My DD's friend and mother have never been to WDW and it has been a tough year for them, so this would be a great treat for the girls! We are trying to plan the trip and then surprise the girls closer to Christmas! Still holding out for a code via email or in the mail though! I guess going the end of August like we ususally do with FREE DP would help too, but I have heard tremendous things on these boards about WDW at Christmas!

Keep throwing the Pixie Dust my way!!! Maybe my prayers will be answered!!!

We love the Poly...Isn't it everyone's favorite? We stayed there last March, and we are now part of the spoiled crew that doesn't want to stay anywhere else. Watch these boards for any discounts. Last year, I found out about the AP room discount, ran the numbers, and discovered that I would still save about $700 off my Poly rate, so I ordered an AP. I wound up with a great peak season rate of $318 (the rack rate was $449)

AP= annual pass

I too am a single mom. We thought this year we would be able to swing the Poly, but I had to leave my 2nd job so we can't do it. I did get a 20% code though so we are still able to do a split with 5 nights deluxe, but still no Poly  Next year we will, unless we fall in love with WL :rotfl2:

Call me slow...but what is a "split with 5 nights deluxe"? I am open for any way to make this POLY thing happen for my DD!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I assume that the poster means she is splitting her stay at different resorts where she was able to apply her code to a deluxe resort for 5 nights (but not the Poly). The rest of the trip will be spent at a mod or value. Many times lately, it seems that posters are having trouble applying codes to the Poly. I guess because it is so popular, they don't need to discount much.

Splitting a stay is something you could consider. If you can't afford Poly for the whole trip, you could stay whatever number of nights you can afford, and then stay at another resort for the rest of the trip. The only thing here is that most people suggest that you stay at the value or mod for the first part of your trip, then move "up" to the deluxe at the end (saving the best for last, as they say). I think it would be fun to stay there, even for a day or two. You could just hang at the resort the whole time and rest up from all those long days and nights spent at the parks - a relaxing end to your vacation.:goodvibes

Sorry for not clarifying. Yes I am staying 5 nights at the WL (deluxe) and 2 nights at Pop (value). I was able to apply the code at the Poly, but it is still so expensive even with 20% off.

Next year when I get a full refund from the IRS we will get to stay at the Poly (hopefully with a sweet AP rate) :goodvibes Even if we do a split stay, a few nights is better than no nights ;)

ME TOO!
THIS will be our first stay at the poly we are so excited!
I got the 20%
and going in Dec so I have all year to save now!:grouphug:

The Poly is our favorite too.

Yes it breaks the bank but we don't go on many vacations anymore since we got married & have kids (currently 6. 4 & 2) so I splurge for my once every 3 year vacation & stay at the Poly.

The one thing we do is bring our own breakfast-the kids eat Pop Tarts & I do cereal but I am thinking bagels this summer so when we walk by Captain Cooks we smile because we know our breakfast for the whole week cost the same amount as that person(s)/family for that one day.

Do what you feel comfortable with. Maybe you can spend a night or two at the end of your vacation at the Poly.

Next year we will, unless we fall in love with WL :rotfl2:

You will fall in love with the Wilderness Lodge. It's great! It's a beautiful resort. I love the Poly and the WL...they have two totally different feelings, so I think you can love both. We love the Poly, but for me, I love being at the WL on a cool (?) Nov/Dec/Jan day. It feels so cozy.

I would hate to tell you how many resorts I have been booked at since February lol. I am VERY indecisive. My DS loves the WL though and the Pop, so that's where we are now! Next year mommy gets to pick ;)
I do like the look of the WL now, with the renovated rooms. I didn't care for the decor of the old ones.

WOW!!! Thank everyone for the great ideas..especially the spilts!! Never knew you could do that! Not a bad idea to maybe do the POLY for the last 2 days of the trip and just hang out there to "recoup". When you book though...can you do that online as one vacation or does it have to be 2 separate ones ones...thats where it gets confusing for me. I am thinking that when it comes time for me to actually book this vacation, I will call and keep my fingers crossed for a 40% code attached to my name, then I guess I will be booking online. Also, when you spilt rooms, and are using Magical Express, how do you get your luggage to the new resort? :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb:

I dreamed about staying at the Poly and finally did during my honeymoon. Don't get me wrong - I LOVED the Poly...it is so beautiful and relaxing BUT I didn't enjoy nearly as much as I thought I would. I loved the monorail being right there but other than that, I don't think we were at the resort enough to enjoy being at a deluxe. So...that said...if you are like us, and don't spend a lot of time at the resort, then it might not be worth the extra money. We had just as much fun staying at Pop!

However, I would love to go back to the Poly...for maybe a longer trip where I don't feel the need to go to a park everyday. (My husband says maybe when we hit the lottery! :rotfl2: )

You have to make 2 separate ressies. ME will pick you up at the airport and bring you to the first resort. When you check in tell them you are transferring to another resort when you leave. The night before checkout call bell services and arrange for them to pick up your luggage and transfer it to the next resort. When you checkout of the last resort, ME will pick you up there and bring you to the airport! :thumbsup2 It's like 2 vacations in one. What's better than that?

Some people don't like to pack up and move and all, but it doesn't bother me. I've done it staying off site as well. It's great for me because I just cannot pick ONE place to stay :rotfl:

I am so excited at the thought of splitting myeressies and staying at the POLY for a few nights at the end of my trip...what a great idea. If I call and I am fortunate enough to have a code attached to my name, can I use it on both ressies though? With my luck...not!!!! Not that much pixie dust in the world huh!!??
