We stayed Poly. Garden View concierge 3/22-3/28 (Room 3533), and words cannot fully describe what a fabulous experience we had.

The service was A+ from the moment Alex, our Tiffany Towncar driver, dropped us off until the moment he picked us up. We received our leis and cute golf cart ride right away, and our lovely room (we got our requested 3rd floor non-smoking room) was ready upon arrival (11 AM), so by 11:15 AM we were snacking and on the beach!!

I had some nice chats with Chef Dick, and, if Steve/Tikiman is reading this, he says to say "Hi".

We were really pleased with the atmosphere and food offerings of the lounge (even without the regular oatmeal) and were "shocked" by the crowds at Captain Cook's and elsewhere, as the lounge was so peaceful. We were there during busy busy Easter/Spring Break, but it sure didn't feel that way. We used the lounge as an extension of our room, which came in handy when the kids (and hubby) were still sleeping in the morning, napping midday, or asleep at night.

Can now understand why people keep coming back!!!

Please feel free to ask questions.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. I love it there and am glad yet another good report.

What was the status of the rennovations in the GCH?

Do you think you will stay there again?

So glad to hear you had a great time! We are staying GVC in November for 7 nights and we can't wait!! I know we made the right decision staying at the Poly! :Pinkbounc

Thanks for the report and the message from Chef Dick. I am glad you had such a good time.

Aloha

Steve

We join you with excellent & rave reviews (we were there the week before 3/12 - 3/19). I hope more folks report the same, as I feel bad experiences are few and far between.

Thanks for the birthday wishes and greetings fellow Poly.travelers.

We didn't find the GCH renovations much at all (but we're newbies so perhaps others would have noticed the changes more). There's a walled-off area near the waterfall and across from the smaller gift shop (which by the way needs to get a dressing room or curtained area, forget the name but it's something news. Their loss as I instead bought a Poly. shirt at the larger shop around the corner after, of course, trying it on first). We didn't hear any pounding or noise coming from the renovation area when shopping or coming/going from monorail. DD7 and I enjoyed hula lessons Saturday morning right near that area and, again, no noise or activity, so maybe they were on holiday.

This trip was suppose to be unique and non-recurring. But just like others have posted, we are now hooked and are eager to plan another trip -- and, yes, Poly. concierge again.

Oh, I should add that we watched Wishes and EWP many nights from the beach or lounge. For us, the lagoon view would not have been worth the extra $100 or so/night. Honestly, for the best Wishes photos and experience, it really is true what others wrote about watching Wishes from Main Street. For EWP, Poly. is fabulous!

I braved the Easter Sunday night crowds and decided to check out Wishes, as it was our last night of vacation (kids and hubby stayed in and slept). Got to MK at 8, Wishes started at 9. Park very very crowded, but I breezed right past all the folks with backpacks and strollers, and joined many others sitting on Main Street. The view, experiece, photos, everything were magnificent!!! Off the charts, in my opinion, compared to the view/experience from the Poly, which at that time I thought was good!

We are due to arrive at the Poly on June 3rd. Everyone suggests to stay in the tokelau building. What do you think and what building did you stay in? I have a 8 and 5 year old. I don't want to be in the most crowded areas plus I don't want to hear the Monorail. Please help

brynnsandra - Because we were concierge, we stayed at the Hawaii longhouse, which is the concierge longhouse.

Tikiman's site does a great job, and certainly way better than I could do, in providing lots of info. on the different longhouses.

We loved being near the volcano pool and beach, but I've read others say they preferred being in a quieter area (we did hear the pool noise, but didn't mind). If you are going to be eating a lot at the Poly., you might want to look into longhouses closer to the GCH -- we were pretty far away, relatively speaking, but didn't mind that either.

As you can see, they all have pros and cons and everyone's got their own opinion.

Good luck, you'll be happy wherever you stay!

Glad you had a great time! The Poly...my first and still my favorite!

Hi

Glad to hear you loved the Poly.

We will be there in middle of May staying CGV, myself, wife and three little princesses. 1st time at Poly.

Did your children like the conconcierge facilities and how did they fare with the snacks.

Cheers

Scouse

Aloha Scousemouse67. You and your wife and 3 little princesses are going to have such a wonderful time! :wizard:

Our children (DD7 and DS7) loved loved loved the lounge and the snacks! There were oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, gummy worms, goldfish crackers, M&Ms, and candy runts, plus juices (OJ in the morning, guava later, and we also asked for and received apple juice boxes whenever) and hot cocoa to keep them happy . . . and coming back for more.

We made sure to get some fruits in them too -- bananas, oranges, apples plus fruit salad at breakfast and pineapple (with caramel sauce on the side) in the evening.

Oh, and at 8 PM, eclairs and mini cake/custard desserts were brought out, so let's just say that our children's blood sugar levels were never low.

They enjoyed breakfast many mornings, crustable PB&J many days, and enjoyed the evening fare (cheese and crackers, carrots, and main dish -- which was often some sort of chicken or pork BBQ).

Although we probably didn't "get back" the extra cost of concierge on the food alone, the convenience and little extras here and there made it special and worth it for us!

Here's some pixie dust!:wizard:

Thanks for the update on the construction. It sounds as if the situation is the same as a month ago. We did not heard any noise either.

I think your summation of the "worth" of concierge in your last post is very apt. :sunny:

We didn't do it last trip and I missed it.
