Does anyone have a map of the Poly? We would love to stay on the first floor of a building near the volcano pool. We have booked a garden room. What are our chances? Thanks for any input!~

Thank you. Like so many, I will probably ask for the Samoa. Thanks again.

You're welcome! Glad I could help!
Sorry I can't help with advice on your chances of getting the location you want, I haven't stayed at the Poly myself (yet). :sunny:

This is unexpected for us. We were originally going to be at SoG, but they delayed their opening. They moved us to POR. I wasn't happy as I reallly liked the convenience of SoG and CR (and the larger rooms). So I called to see if I could get CR, but they didn't have rooms available for our entire stay, BUT I could take the CR at the SoG rate for the first part of our vacation, then transfer to the Poly for the overflow rate of $174 plus tax for the remaining 4 nights. I figured once SoG was up and running I would never be able to justify the expense of staying at the Poly - so go for it now!

We will probably choose either CR or Poly for our next trip...a LONG time from now...LOL

WL would be my first choice, if DH doesn't go (as of now, he says this is his last visit to Disney -- hopefully DD will charm him into changing his mind, though). IF DH goes, there will be 5 of us, so WL would be out.

The only thing about CR that concerns me is it seems a little "cold." To me, AKL, WL, and Poly look so much "warmer" with lots of lush foliage or in the case of AKL, the animals. CR looks a little stark. Is it just me? Did you enjoy it there? Apparently you did, since I see you've stayed there more than once and wanted to go back this time...LOL :teeth:

Well, I've got PLENTY of time to decide...then change my mind...lol

Write a very nice (and show a lot of excitement about this being your first stay at the Poly) letter to the Room Assignor. Request a first floor (if you will be using the pool) room in the Samoa building facing the Volcano Pool. Ask for third floor if you'd rather have a balcony - remember the 2nd floor has no balconies, only sliding glass doors that open to a railing.

If you happen to get room 1609, know that our family has warmed it up for you 3 times this year!

I agree, fax a request however....there are only 10 rooms on the ground floor of Samoa that face the Volcano so don't get your heart set on it. Almost everyone puts in the same request that you are going to make. Maybe you'll be lucky. All I'm saying is, I wouldn't want you to get your hopes up really high and then get in a tizzy because you didn't get your request.:crowded:

:Pinkbounc CONGRATS on the trip!

We surprised my DD (age 7 then) last spring with a trip to WDW 4 nights Poly/3 night cruise. I did not fax anything in advance ..the only thing the hotel knew was that it was DD first trip to WDW...I don't know how they knew that except DH might have mentioned it when he was booking the trip!
We spent 4 nights in the corner room (1st floor) of the Samoa. (the corner next to Hawaii bldg)!! It was fantastic. I don't know if it was because we had a pkg or just an awesome CM.
I would simply make a note that it is your FIRST trip...I think that goes a long way and they do their best to make your stay "magical". Sending a little pixie dust your way!
Have a great time in WDW...you will LOVE the Poly!!
(DD would have stayed in the Volcano pool 24/7 if we would have let her...lol)

Our last trip to the Poly we had a GV room. We requested and received a ground floor room in the Samoa building looking at the Volcano Pool!

It was fantastic!::yes::

We were in room # 1610 I believe. The end of the building closest to the Lagoon and we could roll out of the room and be on the Volcano Pool deck in 5 seconds! :earseek:

Good Luck!

I believe those are the maps that are handed out when you check in. For more maps and more info on rooms and locations, check out Tikiman's website on the Poly. It has fabulous information.

We'll be checking in in 7 days. I can't wait !!!

We really lucked out for our first trip to the Poly in December 2001. We (husband, 2 daughters, my mom and I) had booked 2 rooms at POR with a coupon rate of $84 per night per room. About 3 weeks before our trip, we were contacted that parts of POR were closing (probably due to the low bookings after 9/11), so we could upgrade to either the Poly or AKL. They first wanted to charge us more, but, we were able to get the $84 rate for the Poly during Christmas week! We stayed in Samoa-ground floor-with doors that opened to the Volcano pool. That was truly magical!!

The Poly is beautiful and convenient. The only thing I did not love 100% was the bus system. We spent a long time waiting for buses (the buses at the AS resorts are much more efficient!).

Have a magical trip!:earsgirl:

Wow! That's terrific!

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

jcemom- I cannot usually justify spending a lot on a hotel room when we can get SoG for such a reasonable price. That being said, we have stayed at CR for SoG prices while SoG is under construction. One time I did stay at WL and while it was very beautiful and the lobby was to die for, the sheer convenience of CR beats it by a mile. I think it all depends on which parks you visit the most and how you like to tour them. We like MK and Epcot the best, and we like to go back to our rooms in the afternoon. Because of this CR best fits us. We love walking to MK and missing the crowds. Also we like the Steak Concourse House for a late evening meal of appetizers and easy access to the Poly's restaurants. Some find the theming cold, but we find it exciting, especially when we get on and off the monorail inside the CR.

Again thanks to everyone for the great suggestions on getting the room we want. We would like the first floor of the Samoa but whatever we get I am sure we will be happy just to be there!
