What's the best / fastest / easiest way to make it to a 10:10 ADR at the Poly. We want to go to MK first to see the rope drop. Will we make it, if the RD is at 9:00? It's a Sunday. (don't know if that makes a difference.)

Plent of time,.

After rope drop, exit the park and head for the monorail station. The monorail will take you right to the Poly'.

Actually, if there is a boat at or near the dock, you might want to hop on that going to the Poly. It generally is quicker to ride the boat from MK to the Poly, since it only stops at GF on the way, while the monorail stops at CR and the TTC (both potentially long stops) before getting to the Poly.

I wouldn't call the Resort Monorail stops at the Contemporary and TTC potentially long unless there happens to be a problem with the Resort Monorail system, because usually they are stopped at each location for 2-3 minutes.

Then you have a choice of the boat or the "Express" monorail.
.
Coming back at park closing, when 2 or 3 (sometimes) boats are operating, they each accommodate up to 600 people while a monorail can accomodate only approx 200. So if you see a line/crowd up the ramps toward the monorail, head to the boat and walk from the TTC . . . it takes 5 minutes to the Poly parking lot (which is closer to the TTC than the Great Lodge is).

I have regularly waited 10 minutes or longer at the monorail stops at both CR and the TTC, at least during times near park openings or closings. True, it will stop a lot quicker during less crowded times of day, but that's not when the OP is making the journey. This is why I listed the wait times at those stops as "potentially" long.

Even during crowded times of day, the boats from MK to GF and the Poly have a) fewer stops than the monorail and b) consistently faster loading and unloading times than the much more crowded monorail stops during those times. Both of these factors lead to less travel time from MK to the Poly than using the resort monorail.

Going to MK from the Poly is a different story, since the resort monorail has only the stop at GF, and it's the quickest stop of all, and then it's at MK.

But the OP wanted the quickest way to get from MK to the Poly at what is likely to be a fairly busy time of day. I think I've given it to him.

Thanks... that's what I was concerned about. I was told by a friend to go to the TTC and walk, but in my head, I'm thinking, wouldn't it be faster to stay on the monorail... and I didn't know how close it was... I forgot about the boats, we usually skip the boats, since it seems like they would take longer. We don't go frequently enough, and we have never stayed at a monorail resort, so I thought maybe I'd get some good advice here.

Just to be clear: you do have the option of taking the large ferry boat from MK to the TTC, then walking over to the Poly from there. That is a viable option, and is not a bad one. We just find that to be a little crowded and hot compared to other options.

But I was referring earlier to the much smaller boats that go directly from MK to the Poly and GF. You'll probably stop at GF on the way to the Poly, but that's still fewer stops than riding the resort monorail loop all the way around, and you're avoiding the bottlenecks that CR and TTC often seem to be on the resort monorail line. I'd go with these small boats from MK to the Poly, if you want the quickest way for an ADR at the Poly.

Another way to do it would be to just eyeball which mode of transportation: the MK-TTC direct monorail, ferry boat or Poly boat is closest to being ready to board when you walk out of MK, and head for that mode. Any one of those three options will get you there in plenty of time.

Using your idea of taking the boat from the Magic Kingdom to the TTC then walking to the Polynesian, I would actually take the Express Monorail to the TTC and then walk to the Polynesian if I wanted to try a different route. In my experience the Express Monorail comes a lot faster then the Resort Monorail, it doesn't stop anywhere else and would be a lot faster then the boat if there.
