Poly DVC Lake Side rooms. Is there a bad view? loud horns?

I booked a DVC Lake side room through a points rental company. I have requested 3rd floor and have looked at the Touring Plans room views website. They all seem to look good. I'm wondering if anyone has had a bad experience with their view? Should I request the side of the building far away from the TTC Ferry horns?

1/3 of the Lake View rooms are ground-level. The view from those rooms is mostly of bungalows. Since DVC is designed to work at near-100% occupancy every day, that means 1/3 of people who pay for LV get first floor.

We've been at the side furthest from the TTC and about in the middle. The ferry horns were just as loud in one spot as the other.

I have stayed in Moorea twice now. Once close to Hawaii standard view and never heard a thing. Second time we splurged for lake view and was placed three rooms away from TTC. After two nights I begged them to move us as far away from the TTC even if it meant a lower floor. They got us half way and that didn't help one bit. There are plenty of people that don't even notice but I am a light sleeper. The boats go up to an hour after the park closes and start testing at 5 am every day.

My husband is a light sleeper but he wear ear plugs every night. Do you think this would help?
I learned to sleep through sound as a child because my house backed up to train tracks so I am more worried about him than myself.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I am a very light sleeper! Ear plugs and a sleeping pill were not effective for me. Everyone else slept right through it all!

I stayed at Yacht Club once and could hear those boat horns from the room. The horns are not just annoying when you're sleeping at night. I went back to the room to rest (not nap) during the day and it drove me crazy. I assume it would be the same for me at the Poly.

I was just at Tokelau and could hear the horns from there! But ear plugs solved the problem - probably because it wasn't as loud there as in Moorea.

We had a third floor lake view room last June and the view was spectacular. We were located near the end closest to the Transportation Center. The horns really didn't bother us at all. Yes, we heard them, but they did not bother us in the least bit. We were so awed by the view that nothing else mattered!
