Hi!
My family is considering staying at the Poly in a standard view room for 7 nights.
Are there any longhouses that you can recommend that has the least amount of construction views.
We are traveling at the end of May.
I am leaning towards either Fiji or Samoa.
I would love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks so much!

All of the pool construction is on the DVC end of the resort. Other construction is moving through and is exterior maintenance, which can be ongoing even when a resort isn't in construction mode. I'm not sure what the status of the balcony work is on either Fiji or Samoa.

The pool that is under construction is between Hawaii, Samoa, Rarotonga, Niue and Tokelau, so, it actually impacts resort longhouse views more than DVC longhouse views. If you want to be completely away from the construction, you could request Fiji or Samoa (volcano pool side), Aotearoa or Tuvalu. It looks like they may be at the tail end of the pool construction, however, as someone just posted pictures of water in the new pool. It looks like they are just doing final touches. If your only concern is to be away from construction, you could simply place an "away from construction" request on your reservation.

I would be more concerned about the balcony maintenance, nonetheless.

The pool under construction, the Oasis Pool, is nearly finished and should be opening very soon. By the time you get there all the construction will be finished so don't make any decisions based on construction. Choose the view you want and whether or not you want a balcony. Fiji is a great view and good location. You can request it but remember it's only a request and you could be in any building that has the room type (ie garden view, lagoon view etc) that you reserve.

The Oasis Pool construction should be completed in a week or so with the pool opening by March and the bar and grill open mid to end of March.

Other construction on the longhouses has been completed on Samoa, Niue and Rarotonga should be done or close to done. That leaves work on Hawaii, Fiji, Aotearoa and Tuvalu to still be done. They were working on Samoa last October and it was not done for a month or two but weather might have caused it to take longer. Expect work to continue on the longhouses into the summer possibly.

The work being done is to replace the bottom of the supports with cement because the wood was rotting. Many rumors that started when people saw the work being done was that they were adding second floor balconies but they are not. The rooms that were just being done when I was there a few weeks ago still had people in the rooms even with all the construction on and around the patios.
