I am currently serving in Baghdad with the Army National Guard and am planning to take my family to DW as a family get back together trip on my return. MY DW and I are leaning towards Poly Concierge. My question is my DW cannot make hard plans because of my unknown return dates. We have rough ideas but not enough to make reservations. How much help can the concierge people give her with PS and other reservations for a trip that will probally be less than 30 days out from when she makes the first call? Thanks

The pre-planning staff will certainly do their best to assist your wife in her planning whether it's 30 days out of 130 days. :)

The major factor will be the time of year you are planning to visit. If it's a slower time of year--I'm sure you won't have any problems with PS at all. If it's a busier time, e.g., Christmas or Easter--it could be a bit more difficult, but certainly not impossible.

Another factor to consider is the type of PS you will be making. If it's a Cinderella's or Princess breakfast or lunch, those are a tough get even at 90 days out. Still not impossible, but you'd have to be flexible in your planning.

We are Polynesian Concierge fans and I'm sure your pre-planner will do her best to help you out regardless of how far in advance you are able to book.

BTW, thank-you for your service AND you've made a great choice for a family reunion vacation! :flower:

I think a certain number of unavaulable PS are set aside for Conceirge guests. Especially given your circumstances, I'm sure your planner will do everything in their power to get your family the PSs you want. We used conceirge last year to get us PSs for the Hoop-Dee-Doo revue. We were the second table from the stage. That was asking 2 weeks in advanced. Conceirge seems to be able to work miracles and I know they will for your family.

Thanks for serving our country and come home safe.

I'm sure the Concierge CMs will work their magic for you (make sure they know your circumstances)! :wizard:

As Tess stated some of the very popular places like Cinderella’s breakfast and maybe some of the dinner shows would be hard to get less than 90 days but I will tell you that we would go every 4th of July week and I never made PS before I got there and would decide a day or two before where we wanted to eat. In some cases that same day and so far I have not had a problem getting in somewhere. There are a few seats blocked off for concierge guests only incase they decide last minute but those do go fast. Like I said I would not worry because most of the time you can get in somewhere once you get there. Just be flexible and if it is not available the night you want it, check other nights. I hate deciding before I get there because than I am trying to work my park schedule around eating. Half the time I don’t know what I feel like till that day.

Just wanted to let you know also that I work for a Defense contractor and we are working hard (long days) to make some things to keep you guys safe and bring you home in one piece.

Aloha

Steve

Welcome to the Dis! Thank you so much for your service and dedication to your country. We just had two fellow employees (brothers) come home from Iraq after serving 18 months over there in the Army reserve. Our prayers and pixie dust are with you. :umbrella:

Good luck, I just wanted to say thank you for all you have done for our country.

thanks everyone for the response. It is my honor to serve as I have done for over 23 years. It is people like you that makes it worthwhile. Thanks

Hello & welcome to the DIS boards!

You've definitely come to the right place for your info. We're in much the same situation as you - wanting to plan a Disney cruise but until my husband returns home & reports to his next duty station, we can't really make any plans. It definitely makes life difficult!

You may want to check with Shades of Green (contact info) to see whether they know of any additional methods of arranging a short term trip. Since they are running Operation R&R right now, they probably are aware of some ways to pull strings to get last-minute PSs.

Have you considered doing the Veteran of the Day? Last year, my husband participated and it was a very moving experience. To sign up, visit City Hall on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom and they'll let you know what time to arrive (I think we arrived at 4:30 pm?). You then participate in the flag retreat, and are presented with a certificate and a special-edition veteran's collectible pin that is only given to the Veteran of the Day (not available for purchase).

Finally, don't forget that you can get your tickets cheaper at your local base/post MWR or at the Shades of Green ticket office.

Good luck!
