This is true. What do they honestly plan to do about the pests in the water? Maybe they'll cordon off a section and filter the water through?

BTW...I've always wondered whether anyone actually tries to go into the water at the Poly & GF beaches. They look so beachy. Like, what if you don't see the signs or you don't read English?

It will never look like bungalows over the water in Bali or Pago Pago. Nasty water.

I once encountered this very situation, but at the Beach Club. Young kids were playing in the water at Crescent Lake and I told their parents it was most definitely not a good idea - their use of English was indeed, limited, and they had no clue it was taboo.

I can only see what would appear to be a piling diagram. Until I see actual construction blueprints for the buildings like we got for VGF, speculation will be only that, speculation.

I will agree that 20 GV's would be overkill for a small DVC. It would make more sense to me to do them as two bedroom lock-offs.

I have little kids and a room right over water would make me nervous. Im sure they will try to make it safe but who needs the stress? A water view from the beach is close enough for me.

I saw what I assumed to be a mom and her three children over on the beach behind the CR. She was sitting in the chair about a foot away from the no swimming sign, and the three young children were in the water. She was reading a book and speaking English to her children.

I would stay in a bungalow once to at least try it. Sounds fun.

Here is Yesterland's article on the brain eating amoebas that were in River Country. The following is a quote on the filter installed "separating" the water from Bay Lake:

"In reality, the cove’s water was isolated from Bay Lake by a barrier across the mouth of the cove. Large pumps pulled water from Bay Lake through filters to feed the water slides and White Water Rapids. The water level of the cove was higher than that of the lake. Water from the cove would cascade over the top of the barrier into Bay Lake—but not the other way around.

Disney could monitor water quality and check for anything that should not be there. Despite Charles Ridgway’s immediate remark about not knowing of any action that could be taken, it’s reasonable to assume that Disney did everything possible to avoid a repeat of the tragedy of 1980.

At some point in the 1990s, Walt Disney World banned swimming in its lakes. The 1995 edition of Birnbaum’s Walt Disney World still included the resorts’ beaches under the “Swimming” section. The 2000 edition made it clear that “the beaches are strictly for sunbathing.”"

There is currently a girl in Little Rock, AR in a medically induced coma while they try to save her life from the brain eating amoeba. Only two persons have survived it - ever. They have given her some new medical treatment that may save her life. But it is still touch and go.

If, they wanted to spend the money, they could stop the lagoon further out and basically make that area a pool similar to SAB. Now would they do that, probably not because of the cost and oh my goodness how hard would it be to keep people out of it, unless it was completely fenced.

But it could be really cool and even put Koi and such in it.

I think if they build over the water it will all be Grand Villas.

Don't some of the BCV go over the canal?

I don't think 20 over-water bungalow GVs is overkill at all. Just look at the pent-up demand for Poly DVC in general. I think a lot of people will buy more points just to get to stay in the bungalows, and owners of other resorts will gladly pay the premium in points for a GV just for the unique experience at the Poly. Honestly, even with 20 GVs, I think they'll be the first rooms to book up.

There seems to be much excitement over pure speculation.

There are several "bungalow blueprints" now surfacing on the web. Importing an image in Photoshop and adding colored rectangles is easy to do. However, interpreting the scale of the blueprint and adding to it, based on the scale, is more challenging. Regarding the existing pictures, are people simply adding rectangles based on a numeric dot sequence or are the additions based on scale?

The blueprints suggest construction along the shoreline. Villa quantity and configuration is anyones guess.
