Planning for the Poly for 2007:
Can I get AAA discounted room with dining added on without getting park tickets too?

I read on this board that if you call AAA directly you can get the AAA room discount and add dining, but I can't tell if you also have to get the whole package including park tickets.

Details: DH and oldest DD have 4 leftover days from their 10 day non-exp tickets. I only need park tickets for myself and youngest DD. I can get 4 day hoppers for the two of us for $430 buying discounted ahead of time. Through disney to add the DP, I would have to buy a base 1 day ticket for the 4 of us for $230 (more than 1/2 the cost of the 4 day park hoppers that I need)! A 15% AAA discount on Poly rack rates would save me $47.25/night (based on 2006 rates), but having to buy a one day ticket sucks up $32/night of those savings.

I wanted the dining plan because food is the only area where I struggle with budgeting and we're planning on a couple character meals so it would be worth it.

I don't believe so, no. Dining can only be added to a "package", and a "package" must include park tickets of some form.

The one possible exception is DVC members or their "guests" (i.e.: those renting points), who I *think* can add Dining a la carte, but I'm not DVC nor do I rent, so I don't know for sure.

i think brian is right
go over to the ********* and talk with them
someone will be able to help you

You would have to buy at least a one day MYW ticket for each person in your party.

I think the best you can do is to get the package with one day base tickets for everyone. When you get to the parks, you can use the value of your one day base ticket and your youngest daughter to upgrade to 4-day hoppers, and then just keep the other two one-day base tickets for a later trip. You pay gate prices instead of advance prices that way, but at least you get some value back out of those one-day tickets.

i'm not 100% sure it's do-able, but perhaps you could use oldest dd's and dh's one day base tickets for yourself/younger dd and only upgrade two add'l days on your tickets... as long as they don't check id at the gate, you're golden... since they are one day tix, the only finger scanned will be yours...

I had not considered upgrading the one-day tickets for my youngest and myself--that is a good option. Thanks for the advice!

I just re-read what I had written. Now, of course, Disney will not actually ask you to give them your youngest daughter. :) As far as I am aware, Disney does not actually take humans in payment. Yet!
