On our stay at SSR, the unit next to ours had a cat in it. I did not know till they were checking out and saw the daughter trying to keep the cat under her poncho and the dad carrying out the litter box. I would have reported them had I found out earlier. They were only next to us 2 nights. These were the same people who did not take in the balcony furniture during the hurricane till the last minute.

I can't believe someone would be that rude as to sneak a cat into SSR. I also would have reported them. I hope the next famlies staying in that room don't have cat dander allergies. Cat dander can last for a long time and is very difficult to remove (as several allergists have told me). Something like that could really ruin another families vacation. :(

I loved my 15 1/2 year old dog, who had to be put down this past January, however, I never did & never would have taken her on vacation with us. She would have been in unfamiliar surroundings & been a nuisance to us & everyone else around.

I also don't want to stay in a resort with someone else's pets. I voted NO & I would vote over & over again if I could!!!! As I stated in the other thread, there are too many issues to consider with allowing pets in a resort:

--destruction of property due to scratching by both cats & dogs

--destruction of property due to pet accidents - not to mention the odor it would leave behind - YUCK!

--pet "messes" left outside on the ground & not picked up by owners

--barking dogs or whining cats in the middle of the night or during the day when they are unattended

--the possibility of an animal biting someone & WDW being sued by someone

Too many negatives that don't outweigh the positives IMO!

I voted no way, not me. I have a pet sitter at home, and since we don't drive down, it wouldn't be practical to transport our pet or make for a very relaxing vacation. Personally, I wouldn't stay at a resort that allowed pets as I would like to sleep through the night without hearing barking or a cat fight. I love our cat. He's a beautiful Tonkinese with a great personality, but when I go away, part of the vacation is the peace of not having him jump on my head in the middle of the night and not having to clean up after him. Other people's pets...this could be a bother depending on behavior. My cat would get out of hand in an unfamiliar space, that's for sure. Maintenance cost of the resort would of course be a major issue, too.

One appealing option would be to have a DVC kennel, but I think the ones that already exist are more than most resorts offer.

Haven't read all the responses so maybe this was stated already. However, I found it to be very interesting. I was searching yesterday for hotels since we need to evacuate tomorrow I was shocked and surprised at how many hotels allow pets. Most Marriotts, Best Westerns, Hamptons, and Hawthorn chains allowed them. Also the Don Cesar and Hard Rock chains as well plus others. These aren't special exceptions because of the hurricane. This is their everyday policy. Both of my kids have asthma and are very allergic to cats. Thankfully, they are fine with our dog. Before DVC, every hotel we stayed in for more then 3 nights, they both had problems. I always assumed it was from the dust, carpets etc. They never have problems on Disney property. Now I wonder if there may have been cats in some of the rooms we have stayed in.

Everyone please blow to the east really hard! lol

i would love a pet-friendly dvc resort...i would be able to vacation longer...i wouldn't have to worry about who's gonna cat-sit...

NO! Nor do I think anyone would want to be anywhere near us if we brought along our Great Dane.

I like my dogs, but... If I am on vacation, I really don't won't to rush back to the room for feeding time, and... somehow... having to pickup dog poop at WDW just doesn't seem like my idea of a good time....
