Voted for $10. range. Seems like a fair price.
For the very first time, we just rented some points. We're taking a non-disney vacation this spring and a co-worker wanted to take a disney vacation. So, best of both worlds for the two of us. We got some $$ to offset our vacation costs and they got BWV - 1 bedroom - location they wanted, space, etc. We set our price at $10. with no pressure, but would have kept our points if that wasn't a comfortble price for them. Felt OK doing this with someone I actually know. Not sure how comfortable I would be with a total stranger, but sometimes you just have to take that leap of faith and have confidence that both parties will honor the agreement.
For us, we're delighted we had this opportunity. We don't envision selling many points in years to come, but we look at each vacation individually and try and map out the best value for us. We are actually looking forward to doing something that doesn't include a mouse. lol!
Everyone purchased their points for different reasons. We really don't care what anyone else wants to do with their points. Reservations will still be made, it doesn't matter if it is a renter in the room or an actual member. I don't see this as taking away a possible reservation from us. That's what we have our 11 month windows for. I'm sure
DVC/DVD/WDW is well away of the "secondary" point market..they know how many reservations are being made with non-member names on the reservations.
The renter needs to be very prudent in their own research to make sure they are getting a good deal for their vacation $$'s.. They need to check with CRO to see if they can obtain the same room for a lower price. Of course, it has to be a like to like room to make this work. You can't compare a room at WL with a 1 bedroom at any of the DVC resorts..it's just not a fair compairson, as a 1 bedroom offers more space, kitchen, washer/dryer etc.
