We will be trying the Coral Reef Octobor 6. Just wanted to get every ones opinion. Thanks Tina

I voted (bad) based on my friend's opinion. She went there a few years ago, however. I asked her about other restaurants that she liked but she couldn't remember the names of them. She remembered Coral Reef like it was yesterday though. That doesn't say good things about Coral Reef. Based on the time factor, I wouldn't base any decision on this one vote.

Another BAD vote here. We had dinner there on April 28 of this year, and it was not very good.

We were at the World for 8 days (on the dining plan) and of the 8 table service restaurants we patronized, this was by FAR the worst. Very, very disappointing.

We have been here several times and have always enjoyed our experience. On occaision we have not been right next to the tanks, but the view was still good, and it is a lovely restaurant. The Lobster bisque is not to be missed, and we have always found the staff pleasant.

Can you please share what you had? I've got ADRs there and don't want to be too disappointed.

We really enjoyed the Coral Reef and we are seafood lovers; although the last time we were there we had lobster which I think has been removed from the menu. I'll be there again in two weeks so I hope it is as good as it was last time!

We ate there on May 12th. It was our first time. Dh had the shrimp cocktail appetizer and I had the caesar salad. Both good. I ordered the mah-mahi it was also good. Dh ordered steak and said it wasn't great. But the best part of all was the Chocolate Wave for dessert. It is a very noisy, dark place, but I would recommend trying it at least once :sunny:

the food was ok but you didnt get much, i went a couple of years ago for three people it came to 90 dollars with no alcohol, and the worst part i left hungry. i been to wdw many times and this was the second worst restaurnt i been to.

It seems as is you love it or hate. We just made ADR's for it last night and cancelled another one. Hope we like it. Also, if we wish to make a request for a tank seat, do we make it when me make the ressie or when we get there? Thanks! :goodvibes

We ate ther twice, once in 2001 and we loved it and again in 2003 and we didn't think it was that great. I'd give it a try but for the money I didn't think it was really worth it.

We went in Dec., very crowded for dinner, service was okay,DH steak okay, my fish was good. I agree it was dark and noisy - seeing the tank was nice but we were way up top. I just didn't think it was worth 2 TS - I think that has changed so if you like seafood and that's the case it would be worth it, but not for 2 TS.

Ate there many years ago and it was great.
Ate there last December - and it was pretty good. Not great --
Lobster Bisque is very good.

The setting is really what is terrific. I had a 4 year old and 18month old and we were able to actually get through dinner without problems because of the huge tank/wall.

Service was really pretty good and friendly.

If you want Gourmet -- go to California Grill, Citricos or V&A.

We ate there and LOVED it. Best meal weve had at Disney. I had flounder, wife had crabcakes and mother-in-law had blackened Catfish. All tasted very yummy and we were all very pleased. Had Chocolate Wave for dessert. AWESOME!

Rluey29's wife here....I agree, this is one of the best restaurants there in my opinion. We will be doing it every time if up to me. All of our dishes were wonderful (see rluey29 post). For appetizers, I had the the calamari which was good. Mom had the shrimp cocktail which she says is great and better than Le Cellier. Hubby had the mushroom soup...this soup was so good that I made myself sick off of it after I ate my own app. If you do nothing else, you MUST get the chocolate wave for desert.

We ate there iin April and are going back in Sept. and have made our ressies to eat there again. My DH had a steak which he just loved.(he is kinda a picky eater) I had the crabcake which I also enjoyed. My appetizer was the shrimp cocktail which was also good. The best part of the whole meal was of course the Chocolate Wave for dessert. I was full before the dessert came, but it was sooooo good, that I ended up eating the whole thing. Our DD got a make your own sundae for kids which she ate almost all of it. She got it for her 2nd birthday. It was really cute, it was a scoop of ice cream in a waffle cup and then there was individual little cups with the whip cream, cherrie, sprinkles, mixed confetti topping. It was Great for her. I think if you eat there you won't be disappointed. You can check out their menu on all ears, it was updated recently. I hope this info helps you.

I've eaten there every time for our previous trips - twice on our last one actually - and made 2 Adrs for it for our upcoming trip (theday we arrive and the day before we leave). At all times I was there during dinner, and three times went in without an Adr and only waited 15 minutes for a table. Our fist time eating we each got two different sampler platters and shared . . . one was traditional seafood fare and one was cajun (with alligator!) but I did not see it offered on the menu my last visit. I don't remember what we got the second time, beyond the lobster bisque (which I order every trip). Last trip I got the sirloin with lobster and my DH the sirloin with crab cakes, both steaks were phenominal, the lobster was just right, and the crab cakes delicious. So good in fact we went back a second night and got the same thing!

The waitstaff was always above and beyond wonderful, especially my first time, when the waiter plopped himself right down in our booth and proceeded to give us his boyfriend's reviews of every dish on the menu, I never laughed so hard in my life and its still one of my most memorable Disney experiences.

If you're leery about the food or service and decide to cancel, at the very least head there around 2:30 for a snack and to see the tank, and as everyone says, get the Chocolate Wave. :)

we loved it! We would go back there for our next trip but we are trying to hit restaurants we have not been to yet. Coral Reef is great though :)
