I'm just trying to prove to some that it's nothing but profits that matters.
I disagree with this because ultimately it is the CONSUMER who decides. And if consumers choose not to patronize a company for whatever reason, that is a loss of $$. If a consumer is not happy with any company's policies they are likely to take their business and their $$$ elsewhere. Can you imagine how many times innocent passengers luggage and clothing, etc., inside were soiled or perhaps ruined by someone else putting alcohol bottles in their checked luggage? We know that there have always been those that feel like the rules of alcohol only being in carry on luggage didn't apply to them. I've heard of more than one story of broken bottles in checked luggage.
Disney has not entirely done away with their formerly very liberal policy on bringing on alcohol, right? They have just restricted it much more than before in my understanding. Many cruise lines allow NO alcohol to be brought on board.
I'm pretty much neutral on the new rules as I'm not a big drinker, and I have never once brought alcohol on board. Never minded that others could and did (in their carry-ons), and I never noticed a "bunch of drunks" onboard because of the formerly very generous policy. Doesn't really matter to me either way. But I do think there could have been other options in the survey….such as: "Abuse of policy rules by passengers caused changes". Isn't it generally a minority of folks being a problem that cause the majority to suffer tighter restraints? That goes for just about anywhere in my observation...
