We love love love port Orleans but also think it’s a bad idea to put moderate resorts into the system.
If they did anything at that location, I think it would be similar to RIV - tear down POFQ, for instance, and build a deluxe building in its place. And the decision would be based on location. If DVC was to expand to the moderates, the program would become devalued.
We're getting the Cabins at FW soon.If DVC was to expand to the moderates, the program would become devalued.

The cabins will probably be upgraded somehow (not in size, they said they'll use the original footprint), but FW is a moderate.
If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck... it's a duck. You can't make it into a Swan."The Campsites at Fort Wilderness Resort" is a moderate. These new cabins won't be a moderate—likely priced at least at a 1-bedroom if not 2-bedroom.
They're turning them over to DVC for a reason. FWR doesn't want them anymore. You can book a Cabin for next summer for almost $100 less per night than you can book a regular hotel room at Wilderness Lodge.
That's about to end.
I think you are overlooking the trend of DVC owners (and Americans in general) who are animal “parents” and will be happy to pay an upsell to bring their pets, even if it isn’t luxurious and makes it harder to get to the parks. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck... it's a duck. If the point charts on this are in the 1/2 Bedroom range, it will take years to sell out...
I get that (heck, we'll probably bring our dog), but you could bring your dog before to the cabins, so that's not really a change. Making them worth twice as much as they just were (looking at cash equivalency), I just don't buy.I think you are overlooking the trend of DVC owners (and Americans in general) who are animal “parents” and will be happy to pay an upsell to bring their pets, even if it isn’t luxurious and makes it harder to get to the parks.
It could see it sucking up a lot of existing owner points in the system based on people’s enthusiasm about bringing their pets on WDW vacations.
That’s just not even close to accurate at WDW…Inflation. Effectively Disney hasn’t built anything during the last ten years. They’ve only replaced.
Agree. Only very specific changes would potentially affect prices, not vague numbers being thrown around. And the last few years even announcements of specific things can't be counted on to actually happen in a reasonable time frame, if ever.Yes, big numbers don't mean anything without a context, and also an understanding of where those funds will be allocated.
I voted for no change.
I think Fort Wilderness is really its own category, you have campsites for value prices and cabins for deluxe prices. Cabin rack rate for 2023 ranged from $448 to $872 including tax (per Mousesavers chart)."The Campsites at Fort Wilderness Resort" is a moderate. Add VGF to that list. It's a pretty smart move for the hotel side to "pawn off" unneeded capacity and assets for DVC to repurpose. Generates sales dollars and shifts ongoing operating costs to us. Turning them over to DVC is a financial move. Rather than pay to replace them, they can front construction costs and then profit with points sales. Plus dues will pay for maintenance. I don’t know what the occupancy average is but once sold to DVC, they don’t need to worry. Similiar to AKL and WL rooms turned into DVC.
The biggest problem with the Skyliner (other than weather and being expensive) is they have to build it in a straight line. Every turn you add slows down the entire system.
You also can't build it over undeveloped wetlands for obvious reasons.![]()
The entire line has to be accessible to emergency personnel.
You seem to be a few years behind: Caribbean Beach. Cool thing about that one is that they can always add an aging building or two on, like GF.We love love love port Orleans but also think it’s a bad idea to put moderate resorts into the system.
I hear you. I guess I just see all that stuff as replacing other stuff. Nothing new. Not like epic universe at universal. That’s just not even close to accurate at WDW…
New Fantasyland was an expansion. I remember the construction fence. They “replaced” the Snow White dark ride with 7DMT, but they did build out a lot more.
Pandora was new and amazing.
Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge technically replaced the backlot tour but that’s a lot more than one e-ticket.
Remy was an expansion.
Tron was an expansion, and MK already had more attractions than any of the other parks.
I know you can say things like “Guardians just replaced Energy” but even that’s an oversimplification. And there has been a lot of expansion otherwise.
