Poll: If you are religious, do attend religious services while on vacation/holiday?

We don't usually go out of our way to. We have, a few times, been visiting a church when mass started and stayed for it.

I attend church online, so I can attend anywhere. The services are also available on demand online, so I don’t have to be tied to a particular schedule. I started attending online when I had to work weekends, and have continued to do so.

Generally speaking I don't go on vacation during a day of obligation so as to avoid this issue. If I find myself out of town on a Sunday I will attend Mass on a different day. I had no option (death or illness in the family) but to be out of town on a day of obligation I would attend Mass nearby.

We don't feel an obligation, but if I'm in big city where there are large churches with spectacular music I might go. If I'm visiting friends or family I might go with them. If I'm just at the beach or on a road trip, I'll probably skip it.

I've been to London twice and I've been to services at St Paul's and Westminster Abbey. Spectacular! The first time we went to St Paul's, by coincidence they had a group singing a mass my choral group had just sung the year before. I was thrilled and it was interesting to hear little boys singing my part! It's interesting to see how other people worship.

It's funny how things change though. I can still remember some of the churches we visited on vacation as a child. We often went if my parents thought something looked interesting. Glide Memorial in San Francisco in the 60's was particularly memorable! The hippy culture was big at the time and that was who the congregation was ministering to. People were dancing in the aisles, etc. My parents had prepared us, so we weren't taken by surprise, but it was still amazing. There seemed to be lots of other visitors too. Many years ago we would do a bulletin board at church in the summer for people to post bulletins of churches they visited. It was always interesting to see. Now most of us don't go to church on vacation.

If we’re on a land vacation, yes. We google to find a church in the area and plan in advance to attend. This would be us if we didn’t:
{{deleted}} Changed my mind about posting the video. If you’re interested, google “Trying to Find a Church on Vacation”. It’s hilarious :rotfl2:

Sometimes - it depends on where we are and what we are doing.
Recently, when we were in Florida, we didn’t go since DD19’s games were all at Mass times.
Every trip is different

I’m not religious, but I did attend church services twice while on vacation. St.Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC and Notre Dame in Paris. It was primarily to see the beautiful architecture.

If I’m visiting family, yes. If I’m Disney , no as I don’t have a car, but I have gone when services were on site.

I was raised Catholic. If we were visiting family, we'd always go to Church with them. Sometimes when we'd go to Disney, my mom would make us go but that was less common.

Depending on the type of vacation and if we have a car, we try to.

While at WDW we have gone to Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine.

We used to also go to Mass at the Polynesian. I seem to also remember going to Mass at the Contemporary. I wish they still had a location on property to attend services. 🙏

My mom used to visit her baby sister who lives in a "resort community" of 500 people on a lake in extreme Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. She went to church with her once and said is was the strangest service she has ever been too.
Hodge podge of seating, everybody in shorts and tee shirts, she was the only one there who wasn't a resident. The only motel had burned down years before, and the only cabin rental company went out of business.

As an adult, I generally don't (unless we're visiting family and they go). However... when I was a kid we ALWAYS did. There's always a Catholic Church SOMEWHERE. We usually stayed in our camper or in a cabin on vacation, so we always made a stop at a grocery store on our way into town. While my parents were getting the groceries, it was often my job to find a phone book and look up the Mass schedule/church location.
