Do you tip mousekeeping when you stay on a DVC reservation?

The tipping thread made me think it might be a good idea to start a poll about the topic.

No, I don't tip housekeeping at any hotel including my DVC stays. Our company discourages us from tipping housekeeping, and some major hotel chains do as well, saying it encourages dishonesty in their houskeepers. I'm not sure the reasoning there, but it might have something to do with them always taking any change that might be left out by guests.

We tip at the end of our stay and for days we expect a full cleaning, but not for Trash & Towel days.

Best wishes -

As I am posting now, everything seems to be running neck and neck! 9,9,1,abd 1. Interesting so far!

We usually tip housekeeping daily at every hotel we stay at (even Disney's regular hotels). But, because we're a big fan of split stays, we've actually never stayed in any one DVC resort long enough to get Trash & Towel! So, since we don't get ANY daily housekeeping at DVC, we only leave a few dollars tip on the last day when we check-out.

Tipper here.
 • All T&T - $5
 • One & two bedroom full clean - $20
 • Beach Cottage full clean - $30
I should note that I only tip at Disney hotels. When I stay at hotels for work, I don't tip. :drinking:

I tip housekeeping. Always did when staying at the cash resorts. With DVC I tip at the end of the stay.

No We don't tip them as we do the cleaning ourselves and don't get T&T.

Wow! Results changed quite a bit since this morning!

I don't tip for trash 'n towel. The maid gets an hourly wage, which I am not going to supplement when all she does is leave towels on the table and grab the trash. If I get a full clean, then I tip, because it's a lot of work to fully clean a one-two bedroom unit, especially changing a king bed.

Maybe they take the change because they think it's left out for them or maybe they take it because of so many non tippers that make them angry.
We absolutely tip for all of our stays just as we do for any other services that warrant tipping!

We always tip at DVC and any other hotel that we stay at. I wonder if some hotels discourage it because housekeeping may be influenced in how much work that they put into a room if someone tips. I know that we tipped $10 in a one-bedroom last year at BCV for trash and towel. I had asked for an extra laundry detergent and coffee on a note. I was surprised when we returned and found 5 boxes of detergent and 6 more coffees left by housekeeping. We didn't need that much and left behind what we didn't use. I know that when we tip we normally find extra supplies and a very clean room.

But not at the same level as when staying in a conventional resort. The amount of service is lower...so is the tip.
Seems only fair to us. ;)
