DH and I are thinking of a quick 3 night trip to WDW to relax. Where would you choose if you were not going to the parks but just wanted to relax.
We are planning on the ddp and eating at the various resorts or dtd.
We just want to read, walk, shop, hot tub, maybe catch a movie and just plain chill out.

Just My opinion (standard discaimer keeps me from getting flamed). I would say VWL. 1st then SSR, if you can give up the DDP and trip to DTD I would suggest VB. Talk about laid back no hussle and bussle, it's the most relaxing place on the planet.

The lobby at WL has so many romantic nooks and crannies...
Definately romantic.....

However even though i voted WL...
epcot resorts are a very close runner up...
just because you have lots of bars and restaurants in that area...

Have a great time

We were really trying to stick to wdw because it would be so cheap- no rental car- cheap arifare...
If you fly to VERO what airport do you fly into?

My DW and I choose VB when we want peace and relaxation. We enjoy morning (with coffee) and evening (with wine) walks on the beach as well as the overall peace and solitude of the resort. If you can get good air fare into West Palm Beach, rent a car and try driving up A1A to get to the resort. It will take on hour or so longer but the ride is beautiful and gives one a great view of life on coastal Florida.

I voted for SSR. That is where my DH and I love to stay when we are on our own. The spa and pool area are great and we love the proximity to DTD. It always feels very peaceful there and not crowded (at least when we have been there). Hope that helps.

Depending on the time of year weather wise, VB would be great. But your thread said resorts, im thinking you are going to disney world. BWV with a BWview would be great. BWV has a nice lounge, Largr porch with comfortable chairs over looking the lake. Walk to epcot with your choice of all the country restaurants.

For rest and relaxation at WDW resorts, I would choose OKW because with the privacy of your own entrance and no hotel hallways etc, it just feels more relaxing and private. You are nearly as close to DTD as SSR is, you just can't see it from there unless you are in portions of South Point. The larger balcony and living room spaces just make it feel more private also. OKW always makes me feel like I am in a vacation home instead of a hotel.

My second choice would be VWL for the embiance. The problem there is that the villas are not right on that wonderful lobby, and shopping is a ways away, but there are some fantastic restaurants right there!

I am starting to think that OKW and SSR are probably the best for our plans- so close to DTD and the DTD bustops to all the other resorts for fine dining.
Diane- you make OKW sound so nice-. I think the gorgeous tropical landscaping may tip the scales in favor of OKW- the only downfall is no sofa- but we can live without that.

Okay, that must mean you are staying in a studio. Without the 1 bedroom option, the space isn't going to make as much difference. If you are thinking studio, then I would say SSR might be your best bet. I LOVE OKW for the privacy, but I'm not all that fond of studios.

Yes- definately a studio. We don't need the extra space and definately don't need a kitchen. We are not King bed people either. (We sleep comfortably in a queen at home and usually our 4 year old is in their with us.)

For us, it would be VWL, but for what you describe, I think SSR.

I would vote SSR. If we could choose more than one, I'd say SSR and OKW.

Have fun on your trip! :)

I say SSR first, VWL second. One thing I wanted to not however is that the majority of restaurants at DTD are not part of the DDP.

For a romantic couples only trip first choice would be SSR!

Once AKV are open, depending on availability of the Club Level, I may have to go with AKV.

I'd also vote SSR if you are not doing any parks.

The studio at SSR is more studio-like for two people since I'm guessing you won't be using the seperate beds :lovestruc  You're guaranteed the new mattresses at SSR.

As an adult w/out kids, being able to walk to DTD is a plus - it's a great place to stroll to in the morning and Earl of Sandwich has a fabulous (and inexpensive) breakfast and there's plenty of evening entertainment options. There's also a really goregous (and ultra-romantic) quiet pool and hot-tub in Congress Park that overlooks the water and the lights of DTD in the evening.

I also like the pool chairs at SSR, and the zero-depth entry is :cloud9: to me because I've always loved being able to sit in the water and read to relax. We used to have a pool nearby with zero-depth and I spent almost an entire summer when I was expecting DS sitting and reading in the water!

Congratulations on your DVC purchase :thumbsup2
DH & I took a 4 day trip "home" to SSR at the end of November to celebrate our 15th Anniversary. This was without the kiddies and we found SSR to be relaxing, quiet and we enjoyed walking the grounds, the walkway by the water, using the pool and hot tub and then being able to walk over to DTD and Pleasure Island. No matter what you decide, have a wonderful trip :wizard:

For romance you can't beat the jaccuzi tub in a 1 bedroom.. just a thought
