Poll about Glassware And MUGs

GLASSWARE and MUG REMOVAL

  • I hate it I am writting EVERYONE!!!

  • I AM NOT AFFECTED BY THIS CHANGE

  • Who Cares

Results are only viewable after voting.
Note: I think this is not a good poll--the second and third options are essentially the same.

I picked "who cares" - I am affected by the change because we sometimes stay in a studio to save points for our next vacation.

It doesn't really bother me as long as there are plenty of cups for my stay... then again I have been known to borrow pool towels for my room when we are in a studio :rolleyes1 ... I return them when we are done with them... it's just borrowing

But back to the cup issue... it bothers me for a few reasons but not enough to make a stink.

Reasons I am bothered by it:

-how will this affect our dues?
-it's not very green
- we were not made aware of the change through DVC

- we were not made aware of the change through DVC

because DVC is trying to convience you that it was always that way - so no change.

despite evidence.

that is one of my big problems - lying is never the way to go. Since so many managers were lying - it had to come from the top. This is not the DVC that I brought into years ago.

so looks like the rumors are true - DVC is going downhill and fast. Wonder if it will be worst that Westgate?

DVC is going downhill cause of a change in glass to paper and no mugs .

I guess I will have to sell my 420 points for about 20.00 more per point then I bought it for .

But yet it is going down hill..

I chose who cares, but agree with PP that second and third choice are too similar, not to mention the wording...anyone who does any type of poll research knows that wording is essential....there is no room for people who don't like it but won't write about it. I don't really like it, but I am up not up in arms about it or feel the need to shoot off scathing emails. I will just have to use our refillable mugs in the rooms too.

And this is one of the big issues for me. And you combine this with their 'tude...tell All Ears one thing then tell people who call to complain something else like we're idiots, and it's a real slap in the face.

I do think this will affect a lot more people than they realize. Really, who wants to have to bring dishsoap to their resort? And what about those who are staying long amounts of time and need to wash bottles or sippy cups for small children?

I despise the taste and feel of a styrofoam cup and have written already and will continue to write letters. Why should we just lay down and accept a change that we don't agree with?

I'm way more bothered by the lying than I am by the change!!!

I would like to feel that we get good communication and honest answers from them.

BTW, I must have missed what they told All Ears. Could someone fill me in?

I have been a member since 1993 - this is the first time to my knowledge that DVC has lied.

Not got the facts wrong - and outright lie.

It doesn't matter what it is about - what matters is when you complained you were told it was always that way.

Can't you see what lying to members (us) is wrong? if you can't, then sorry.

I did not vote as the categories offered do not cover enough situations (and as the poll is written, it does indicate definite bias on the part of the pollster) ;)

My vote is for Mother Nature, in case you missed it on the other thread.

No where did it say DISNEY LIED show me the print that says we lied..

How did they Lie where is it in print that they lieD??

Or is trhat what someone put in a post because they were pissed about not getting a real glass or cup

I do hate the change and I am writing to everyone. I generally do not use the paper plates and I've always used the dishwashing liquid to wash the plastic utensils so they can be reused. Environmentally, this is a poor decision on DVC's part. I do not buy the refillable mugs because I do not think they are environmentally friendly either.
I also prefer the feel of a ceramic coffee mug. It's one of my little pleasures in life.

Thank you for supporting my point that this is a biased poll. While you do have some concerns ('Reasons I am bothered by it') you voted 'who cares', which does not seem to be your actual intended response.

I for one cannot take the poll results as an indicator of how posters here actually feel about the situation.

As another example, some readers who 'are not affected by this change' as they only stay in 1 or 2 bedroom units may actually care about the subject. Not being impacted does not necessarily mean that one does not have a concern. Thankfully not everyone is so self centered to only care about the topics which negatively impact them.

At least one lie was mentioned by someone e-mailing that the studios never had ceramic coffee mugs or glasses. It is reported that the manager of SSR said that they never had those things either in studios.

sorry when at DVC resort last week if you complainted about the new cups - were told by MANAGEMENT that it was always that way.

that is a lie - too me a BIG LIE.

they knew it was at the time.

when a business that I am doing business with start lying - to me it is definitely time to find someone else to do business with. but with DVC you can't. there are other timeshares but not onsite at WDW.

so expect in the future other things to vanish. It doesn't have to mean anything to you - just know that once a business start lying to it customers - it generally only gets worst.

I'm personally not affected since studio stays are few and far between for us. Now that doesn't mean I am automatically in favor of anything DVC chooses to implement as long as it doesn't affect me personally. I view this latest move as another step by DVC on the slippery slope to mediocrity. I admit a couple of "cost-saving" measures here and there doesn't add up to mediocrity, but a sustained pattern of this type of behavior over the course of a few years certainly would. (IMO, of course. I realize that some other members are just happy to be there.)

So since there is no option that best describes my sentiments - I'm opposed to replacing mugs & glasses with disposables, but it doesn't really affect me - I didn't vote. However, in the interest of attempting to preserve a bit of the DVC I originally thought I was buying into, I will probably dash off an e-mail protesting this latest decision to lower quality at DVC resorts.

This is almost where I'm at, but not only do I rarely stay in a studio, I don't even drink coffee and rarely drink anything in the room in one of their glasses.

But I don't like being lied to, and if they'll lie to one member they'll lie to me. And I don't like something I own being downgraded because it will trickle down to my value.

The quote is about the 5th or 6th item down, under news.

So, it does sound rather like a kneejerk reaction to the news exposes lately on icky housekeeping practices. Wonder if this change is being implemented across the board in all Disney hotels though?

I haven't written to them yet, because I wanted more info first. I likely will though, even though it doesn't really affect me too much since we will be staying in 1 or 2 br units in the near future. Here's what I don't like -
1. Membership was not told until after the change
2. When people asked during the time it was happening, they were told nothing had changed, even though it had. Very Wrong.
3. It is environmentally unfriendly
4. It isn't very "deluxe"
5. It is tantamount to an admission that things weren't being cleaned properly in the first place. Is there not a central dishwashing area somewhere for these things to be switched out between stays?
6. No glasswear should not automatically mean no dishwashing liquid. There are other items to clean, such as the coffee pot (not the unit, just the pot; I like to heat plain water for tea in it and I always clean out the pot so it doesn't have that stale coffee taste).
6. This requires me to carry one more item with me (if staying in a studio, that is), at a time when I'm trying to carry less items on airplanes. Where will this end? I'm already bringing sheets & pillowcases, etc. and now I must add mugs and dishwashing liquid (on a side note: thank goodness for Owner's Locker).

There. That's my .02 FWIW.
