Poll about Glassware And MUGs

GLASSWARE and MUG REMOVAL

  • I hate it I am writting EVERYONE!!!

  • I AM NOT AFFECTED BY THIS CHANGE

  • Who Cares

Results are only viewable after voting.
why does that not surprise me.

see some people do agree with you.

DBorges thinks that this change is fair. Most of us don't. This poll shows his belief.

This only represents members on this site. Not the membership of Dvc seem alot of people are bothered and some are not this does not prove anything but a opion of the site users which is not even 1 % of the membership.

So it just proves that users here do not like it but yet not all of them..

I have to say that most DVC folk who usually stay in 1 and 2 bedroomed units wouldn't care at all and I can understand that. But, it is those people who stay in the Studios who are affected the most by this.

you can't the styrofoam cup is not strong enough to hold your tooth brush....

Yeah, dumb as it sounds it really annoys me when there isn't a glass to put your toothbrush in. When we've stayed at All Star Music or Pop Century in the past, the plastic cups annoyed me for that reason. But it doesn't bother me at that price point. At the price point of DVC, it's more annoying.

And I do think the poll is skewed and ignores those wanting to vote that they don't like it, but don't plan to write everyone about it (like me).

It is how you feel this is were it gets confusing we all do not feel the same..

I question the change, why now? Glass ware has been good enough for years.

It's just got to be the money! It is seems to be the only motivating force to DVC currently.

Were too many mugs being stolen? Eliminate the mugs and glasses then you can also eliminate the detergent and sponge. Big money there! Reduce housekeeping load? (Time is money after all)

Yep, could be. If true, instead of fixing the problem by hiring and retaining enough competent housekeepers ($$$) ....they get rid of the mugs.

I don't see where they are going to be saving money. I lived with the paper plates & bowls & the plastic utensils. Most of what I eat in the room I can use a paper towel for. The mugs, glasses & soap being removed from the studios result in my decision to call mousekeeping each & every day of my stay to replace all the used items and then some. They will now have to hire more people to run around to all the studios to replace the environmentally unfriendly, totally unwashable, therefore not reusable, disposibles. This is in addition to the towels I borrow from the pool to use in my room because they expect me to use the same towel for 4 days at a time. Since I don't use the pool I'm still entitled to my pool towel each day imo.

Like I posted in the other thread...I can't wait to see all the extra litter that is going to be on the ground or in the water. That's really GREEN isn't it???

I do remember a time, way back in the mid 90s when all we did have was paper plates/cups/utensils. I was thrilled when they finally starting putting cups/glasses in the studios. Simple solution....call down to mousekeeping and request what you need. I wonder if it would be turned down? Disney's award-winning customer service refuses to bring guest a glass or mug? Really, what is the point of having sinks in the studios? take those out too and also the microwaves. I've said it before and i'll say it again, this is just the beginning.

I see this as a further chipping away of DVC. When we bought in 1997, we were very pleased with our purchase. This was something special. We felt like we really mattered to DVC and Disney. We didn't need any special perks, we just were a part of a very special process.

Now, there is just a push to raise the price of a point, to build more and more DVC units, to change the way it has operated in the past with changing banking deadlines (supposed to make it easier for us), charging closing costs to new members, cancelling Vacation Magic and replacing it with the generic Disneyfiles, etc. The person in charge got upgraded from Vice President to President of DVC, while we all got downgraded.

For every new perk they give us, strings are attached and they take away other perks. We got the AP discount, but lost the Length of Stay discount. We got the DDP, but lost the ability to dine in our studios.

Did anyone know that Jambo House villas would not be like the models when you toured the models? I didn't and was very surprised that the Jambo House villas did not have the separate tub and shower in the one bedroom and larger.

Everything that has been happening for the last three or four years has resulted in Disney getting more money from us and the members getting less in return.

Even the change in MS hours at first appeared to be great, but many members continue to complain about having to wait so long to get through. Did they just take the staff they had and spread them out over 7 days instead of five. And the late night hours on Thursday have disappeared all together.

We get CMs telling guests that it's not a problem to put 5 (all age three or older) in a studio. We get MS talking to non-members once again on calls that we pay for. A little training goes a long way.

It's just so disappointing.

While I don't really like them eliminating the glasses and ceramic mugs, it's not really such a big disappointment to me.

I remain a happy DVC member.

I guess some people simply don't mind that the management company that they are paying for out of their dues not only has employees who lie to the owners, but also make decisions directly affecting the owners without consulting the owners. Not to mention the environmental green that Disney spouts off about, but only if it helps their bottom line.

If there is a reason for this, Disney, let's hear it. Not that canned response that this was better for the members. Who says it's better for the members?

Maybe we should start a new poll. Who had a problem with the way it was? Who hated the glasses and mugs and wanted to have them taken out? Who thought that they were disgusting and wanted to have everyone in a "low rent" studio get a small supply of paper and plastic kitchenware, only to now have members, renters and cash customers calling housekeeping much, MUCH more frequently to deliver fresh cups EVERY day?

People don' t seem to realize that those plastic cups and the delivery of those plastic cups are going to be paid for by their dues.

You say you don't care about the removal of the cups, ok, it doesn't directly affect everyone. Don't worry though, this is just one small thing in a long line of things that is happening within the DVC and not for the better.

Don't worry, maybe the next decision they (DVC management) decides to make arbitrarily will affect you and you won't feel so left out. :goodvibes After all, it's for the good of the members, right?

It can very easily be unbiased no matter what!

There ya go.

I haven't read all of the posts so this may have been mentioned. If so, I apologize. From what I did read, I'm probably in the minority - I applaud DVC for this (and I'm very green). I don't look at it as cutting back, I'm looking at it as more sanitary.

How many of us have posted about washing all the dishware when they check into their 1 & 2 BRs? Since they do not have a dishwasher in the studios, who is washing the cups & glasses? Mousekeeping? All they probably do is rinse them out (if that). I am sure that many of us use the dish soap plus hot water BUT there are probably just as many who don't.

If I want to drink out of a ceramic cup while staying in a studio, I'll bring my own.

Cyn

Sorry, but it isn't sanitary when the cups & plastic glasses are not individually wrapped & sealed in plastic from the factory.

I'm guessing that the person stocking the unwrapped cups and plates into the studios is the same person who just cleaned the bathroom.

Well, regardless of the way this poll is worded, when I learned of the changes I felt it did affect me in a few ways:

1. We do not use plastic, foam in our household and if Disney is, as stated previously, winning awards for being "green", then this is not a very good move for them re: public relations.

2. We, as DVCer's realize that we will not have full kitchen facilites when choosing a studio, but if feels a bit discriminatory towards studio renters.

And C. (:goodvibes ), why should we pay all this money for points and have to bring our own dish soap?

This is only my opinion. I am not arguing with any other opinion stated. And, yes, Wilderness Dad, I, too, love DVC and there are many great things to enjoy. But, my cookies are a little frosted, and I had to vent.

Thank you, thank you very much.
