Political - Are you gonna boycott Bruce!?!?!

I still don't see the word celebrity or celebrities in that sentence/paragraph. I see the word "you", meaning the reader. So ... a person reading that sentence/paragraph, since they think it is aimed at them, the reader, may not think it's all that civil. Can you at least see that now?

Well, I felt the qualifying phrase "through the power of their pocketbooks" would tell anyone reading it that I was referring to the celbrities whining about people not buying their product. I think we all occasionally use the general "you" If I was unclear, I apologize.

What's the difference if you say "whatever", tell someone they're "childish" or "junvenile" or use this smilie ? Spelling it out is okay, but a graphic is not? We could argue back and forth about this all night, but I refuse. Instead I'll just say I disagree with you, and you can have the last word about it it if you'd like. :) < --- meant the way "the DIS" intended it to be used. :p

I started out talking about celebrities and insulted no one on the dis, he rolled his eyes at me, dismissing my opinion. I find that childish. Perhaps I responded in kind, my mistake.

Tonysmom,

First of all, a big mea culpa on my part. . . I had remembered seeing the Elton Jon quotes before and when I went looking for them I just took the article from the most realiable sourse, copied and pasted it, and never really read the headline. .

So a big "Duh" on me for asking where you got the "censorship" thing from- I do think it was a misleading headline because EJ never calls it that, but it was dense on my part not to notice it and I apologize.

As far as the other, Maggie got it right but I'll gladly accept your word on how you meant it . . I did take it as a comment on my objections to the reactions by some to any criticism of the current administration, but after re-reading it and reading your explanation I can see I was wrong and I apologize for my less-then-civil response.

My bad and I hope there's no hard feelings. . :)

Kendra,

Here's a link to one article that mentions the death threats and some of the tactics used to intimidate theatre owners. . .

Fahrenheit 9-11 censored in PA Republican voter stronghold?

From the article:

"Alternative news website WhatReallyHappened.com (WRH) researched the background of a group launching a campaign to deter theater owners from showing Fahrenheit 9/11. It was reported that some theater owners have received death threats.. ."

And here's a link to a Google search about death threats to:

Michael Moore

Theatre Owners showing "9/11"

The Dixie Chicks

Again not blaming Bush but just showing that at least some pro-Bush people have taken defending him waaay to serious.
:(

Thanks Willy. :D I apologize if I wasn't clear.

Ok (sniff sniff, says hormonal breastfeeding mother)

GROUP HUG!!! ((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))))

Well, I was born and raised in Long Beach and us California loons have to stick together TW. . . LOL!! ;)

{{{{hugs}}} back. . . :)

And welcome to the DIS Syncer55!!

Always nice to see another Bruce fan on the boards. . . :D :D

And don't be dismayed but what you see on this thread. . . we'll all be back to fighting by tomorrow. .

;)

Thanks. . .I don't know what I did on my search, because I didn't get those articles when I searched..

Thank goodness that the threats are not frequent and that they have not been acted on.
