Is pole fishing available at any resorts other than POR? How much does it cost? I am assuming it is catch and release.

I think my boys would enjoy doing this on their day off from the parks.

Thanks! Kim

I saw some people doing this at the Yacht Club just off the boardwalk near the water taxi launch pier.

I believe you can fish at Fort Wilderness also according to a guide book. Tackle and bait are available at the Bike Barn.

Pole fishing at Riverside was $8 this summer for each pole. You get the pole, a tub of wiggly worms and a towel. There's a fountain/sink thing on the little deck as your hands get wormy. The pond is small and you can see the little fish. We had good luck and each child caught and released a few fish. The hours were 9 - 3 daily or something like that -- you can call and find out when you are there. I remember there was a group rate, too -- poles for the whole family for maybe $20? If you have a big family it was a savings. I think the rental period was a half hour, which was enough.

Have fun! My favorite part of the whole thing was walking a few steps down to the pool-bar when we were done --- PINA COLADA time!
