Points reservation combined with Cash reservation - online check in?

We have a points reservation immediately followed by a cash Reservation. (Same room/type/etc). Never had a problem keeping same room for the whole time. I did online check in for the points reservation. Should I also do online check in for the cash one? What’s the best way to ensure I stay in the same room? Should I NOT do online check in and visit front desk so they ensure no need to move?

Did you arrange to put a "continuing" note on each reservation cross referencing the reservation number of the other? If not, and if you have a few weeks before your trip begins, call and do that. Repeat your request when you actually get to the resort.

I don't know if you should use the online check-in for the second reservation or not. If it were me, I'd probably wait until I arrived and check in for the second reservation when I arrived at the resort for the first reservation. It's hard to disappoint someone standing right in front of you, LOL.

Do we call DVC member services for this or regular CRO? I have a 2 night cash reservation followed by 1 night on points.

You probably need to call both. Call CRO to add the note to the cash reservation (assuming you booked through CRO). Call MS to add the note to the points reservation.

If you made the cash reservation by calling MS instead of CRO, you shouldn't have a problem. MS can link it such that the two reservations appear as one continuous reservation to the resort.

When you arrive, ask the CM when you check in (and go to the front desk, don't just rely on online check in) if you are blocked into the same villa for both stays.
