I was thumbing through the most recent DVC magazine the other day and I saw a little note that DVC members should note that this was the first year that points remained flat? What am I missing? :confused3

I believe that the reference was to the number of DVC points that it takes to reserve a Disney Collection resort room (ie, Poly, GF, AKL, etc).

Yeah? I guess that could be a good answer. :confused3 I thought when we originally bought DVC they told us that the points would always remain the same. For example if you wanted to rent a studio at SSR during "x" season it would always be "x" points per night. I understand that the dates for the seasons could change though. Is this correct?
Disney Collection could be different though. I never really even think of the Disney Collection.

I don't believe that is quite true...I believe the "Total Points" don't change for the whole year, but Disney does have the right to adjust points in periods. Any points they add in one period, must be reduce in another.

They also have the right to adjust days, if needed.

They have not done that since we have been members (2000).

That is correct. OKW had a point realignment in 1996. Point realigments for DVC resorts are rare, and frankly, probably more trouble than DVC wants to go through on any sort of regular basis.

Points for stays outside the DVC resorts (Disney collection, Concierge Collection, etc) are renegotiated witht he participating hotels each year...they can and do change (usually going up) almost every year.

I saw this too, and was confused. It was part of an introductory packet that we received as new members after closing on our resale contract. It was on a single page outlining "new tools and announcements" that will "make it easier to plan the vacation of your dreams."

It said, and I quote:

"...While that's exciting news indeed, here's something you'll be thrilled to hear: Vacation Points and Reservations Points values will remain the same for 2007 as they are for 2006 (with the exception of the Disneyland Resort in California, as outlined above). It's the first time in our history that Vacation and Reservation Points values have remained flat from one year to the next! Dates and seasons my change, based on high and low demand periods.

Take a look for yourself and see-2007 Vacation Points and Reservations Points charts are available now at (insert DVC member website here)"

I don't get it. Are they talking about DLR & DCL that are mentioned on the same page?

In the paragraph just preceding the quoted material above, it is talking about the debut of a Reservation Points chart for Adventures by Disney. Is that what they are talking about that has remained "flat"?

It is the Disney collection they are talking about.

If you log onto DVCmember.com and look at the Disney collection 2006 point charts they are exactly the same as the 2007 point charts.
