Sorry if this question sounds dumb, I'm fairly new at this :)

My use year is August and I only have 10 points available for my 2010 year. If I want to take a trip this August, will I be able to borrow from my 2011 points?

Yes, you can "pay" for a trip using current UY points, banked points from the previous UY and borrowed points from the next one.

When figuring things out, first figure out what UY your trip will happen. Then it is easy from there.

So, an August 2010 trip is in your 2010 UY so you can use banked 2009 points, 2010 points, and borrowed 2011 points.

Sandi's reply was very precise. If you will not be using you 2009 UY points before the end of July 2009, you will need to bank them (if not done so already). Accordingly, when you decide to book your August 2010 vacation, you will first use those banked points, then start to use your August 2010 UY. Since your August 2010 vacation will already be inside your 2010 UY, you will be able to use the August 2010 UY points, without having had a need to bank or borrow the 2010 UY points. Thereafter, if you do not use all of your 2010 UY points, you will still have to decide as to if / when to ultimately bank the REMAINDER of your 2010 UY points ... especially if you will not be using them prior to the end of July 2011.

you could have booked a reservation at your home resort for aug 2010 with borrowed 2011 pts as early as september 2009.
