We've been members for quite awhile, and while we've always banked points, we've never borrowed them, so I'm not up on all the ins and outs as well as I should be.

The situation is we're planning a trip where, if everyone goes, we'll need to borrow 8 points from our next UY. I want to secure the ressie (2BR) ASAP, because we're just entering the 7 month window and it's during F&W. However, some of the people who would like to join us won't be able to give us a definite yea or nay for about 5 more weeks.

So if they can't go and we decide to change the ressie to a 1BR, will MS use the 8 borrowed points for that new ressie? This will be our only trip until our next UY, and while it's only 8 points, I don't want to lose them if it can be helped.

If you're positive you will be going again in your next year, I'd borrow those 8 points & book. Then in the event you need to downgrade that reservation, although you cannot return the 8 points back, you can certainly bank the equivalent from this year's into next (assuming all is done before that banking window) along with any other current UY leftovers that may be returned from your 2 br cancellation.

Essentially, you'd lose no points by doing this. Make sense?
