Points question... transfer & banking exception

I recently added on points. We have a June UY, therefore we got our 2009 points which I have been told I can bank even though it is beyond 8 months. Our guide said this was an exception since I just received the 2009 points. I guess they realize you may not be buying today, going tomorrow... although I would like to

Anyway, here is my dilemna, we are planning a trip for next June 2011, by which time these 2009 points will expire. I was thinking that I could bank them for my June 2010 UY and then transfer them to someone if we will not use them before May 31, 2011. However, I just read that banked points cannot be transferred. Which would mean they could only be transferred within the next month?

If I were to transfer these points to someone else, would they have to use them by May 31, 2010 or could they bank them? In other words, would the "exception" that the agent said we have transfer with the points?

Does anyone know?? Or does anyone have any creative ideas? Also, if you book something outside of the DVC resorts, ie DCL, Concierge, RCI, do you use points from the UY when you are making the booking OR from the UY when the trip is? I wasn't sure about this since I read that RCI can be booked 24 months in advance, so I wasn't sure what UY the points come from.

yep - and for low value. the transferee probably won't get the special banking window so they'd have to use the pts immediately or lose them. probably best to bank them into 2010 and then rent them for next year.

UY has nothing to do with when you are booking.

RCI and cruises have slightly different rules for usage, though, IIRC.

I called MS and I think I have a better understanding now. Since these are newly acquired points (but are June 09 UY points), I can bank them or I can transfer them to someone now and who could bank them.

As far as ways I could use them. If I bank them, they expire May 31, 2011. I could travel prior to that date to a DVC resort, on DCL, or for RCI nightly exchange (at least these are the things I asked about.)

They could be used through an RCI exchange beyond May 31, 2011 only if they were being deposited for a weekly exchange.

So I now I just have to decide what to do!
