Points price increase!

My guide just called this morning to let me know that there will be a price increase to $75 a point on June 3. She said they just got the message this morning. She also said the MB plan would be changing April 15. (I've been corrected on the MB date -- should actually be April 1.)

I thought the MB program was changing April 1 (that's what my guide told me). What is going to happen April 15?

I'm not sure what happens on the 15th, De Ann. She asked me if we wanted to use Magical Beginnings for our add-on and told me it would be changing. Since we aren't going to use it, I didn't get the details about the change. I wish I had, so I could post it. Maybe I misunderstood the date -- I'm sure someone else will be able to clarify it. I was mostly interested in what she was saying about the price increase!

Well, that made up our minds. We were talking of a 70 point add on at the VWL in the fall. As soon as they can do this via the mail in New York and before the price increase, we will do it. Did I hear they will be registered in New York within the next month?

Just spoke to our guide -- for what it's worth -- and the price increase in June is apparently for real. Ditto the change in MB for April 1. You know, if all of you would chip in a little, it sure would expedite our purchase

I will prepare myself for another of those raise the rent per point posts which is now undoubtedly coming . In Jan 1999, it was $62.50 and it had actually been that for a few years. In Feb 1999 it went to $65. In May 2000, to $67. In Jan 2001 to $72, and now in June 2001 to $75. That is an overall increase of 20% in about two years, and 15% in just one. At this pace, we are looking at $85 or more a point when BCV is available. When BCV was first announced and we were still at $65 about to go to $67, I remember people joking in response to some post that it would be $85 by the time BCV got built. Now I am not even sure it will stay that "low.

Drusba I'm guessing $85-$90 if BCV enters as another regular DVC resort. If it's the start of a new program....I don't know....would a $100 per point be unreasonable?

Cherry, You just made me feel good about adding 275 pts. at WLV while we were down there last week. We had some doubts, but after the tour we signed the paperwork. Yippee !! Funny, our guide did not even hint at an increase, I guess he didn't want to add unnecessary preasure, and let the WLV sell itself.

Almost everyone was saying that I was nuts for calling BCV to open at $85.

Looks like I will be right again.

I think we may even see another increase before VWL sells out. I also think we will hear of another DVC resort VERY soon. I really think it will be at a monorail hotel. Wether its GF or Poly or someplce else along the monorail, I think that would be the only way for them to keep the 2042 ending date.

After I signed the paperwork, the 'Quality Assurance' gal handed me the cardboard holder of my copies. I asked her to just send it to my home in CT as I didn't want it with me during my vacation. She said she couldn't "if WLV has not cleared in CT yet." So, Jim McCoy my guide, jumped up and said let me check, and cam back and said it did just clear CT. So, I assume you can now buy through the mail.

Wow, dh and I were just considering an add on last night....we were going to call our guide and have her let us know when VWL were getting close to selling out......hmmmm.

Perhaps I'll ask for some points for my birthday next month!

UNBELIEVABLE!! We all nearly choked when the price went up to 72.00!!! Oh yikes!! Watch the resale market go up now!!! I still need an additional 50 points though... UGH better act quick....

Since I'm one of the newbies that bought in at $72, I am glad it's going up - nice to know someone will pay more than I did!! Now I don't feel so bad.
