Points needed to start

So I am aware that the minimum amount of points needed to purchase in order to become a member is 100. Could this 100 point minimum be contracts from different resorts or do you have to purchase 100 points from 1 resort to start membership? Thanks

100 from 1 resort to start. Afterwards you can do the minimums at any of the other resorts, whether its 25 or 50

Once your resale goes through, your minimum will be the 25 or 50 point resort minimum.

You should get a really good Guide to walk you through your options. They can clear up some of the direct confusion (it can be confusing!). There is a thread here with Guide recommendations; pick one off there and contact them directly!

are you only talking about direct? You could buy a 25pt resale contract and become a member…. not much you could do with them…. but you would be a member….

It depends on what Disney allows as a minimum buy in at a particular resort for new members. All of that info is on the Disney vacation club website.

Current requirements are that if you don't own any DVC points at all, to buy direct you must buy 100 points in one contract at one resort.

As others state above if you buy a resale contract of any size, even 10 points, that makes you an existing owner, and you can buy direct 50 at one resort and 50 at another.

Since you are buying a resale contract first, your minimum for direct will be either 25 or 50 depending on the resort.

Just remember that you can never combine AKV pts with CCV pts at the 11 month window - have to wait till 7 months if there is still availability.

Points are what carry all the rules and not owners. So, your resale points, even buying direct ones, will not be good at RIV, CFW, VDH, and presumably all future resorts.

Your direct ones will be. Same with home resort…points carry the rules as to where they work during home resort priority.
