We are pretty excited about going from only having enough points to stay in studios once a year to now having enough points to stay in one and two bedrooms in the future. We will stay at our first DVC one bedroom in December at our home resort BLT. Just looking for others experiences that have made this jump.

I'm not sure what you are asking here. We've stayed in just about every kind of DVC room from a studio through a Grand Villa. Perhaps the biggest thing you'll notice is how much more room you have going from a studio to a 1BR and being able to utilize all the kitchen facilities.

Simple, once you have tried a 1BR or 2BR instead of a studio, you will never go back. Going from a studio in BLT to its 1BR is like moving up from being a street person who lives in a car to Jay Gatsby who lives in a mansion. The 1BR is huge, you have the w/d, full kitchen, two bathrooms, a huge living room and almost wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows for a living room view. You will wonder why you ever sufferred living in such confinement before.

The change will also ruin all other hotel stays in the future. Every time you are lying in the bed next to your kids in a regular room you will be dreaming about being alone with your hubby in the DVC 1 or 2 bedroom.

Thanks. That's what I was guessing would be the difference. Not to mention that it seems like the studio in BLT is smaller than the regular rooms we used to stay in at the Contemporary.

Love staying in the 1 bedrooms - extra space, full sized refrigerator, two TVs, KING bed, jetted tub (at least in BWV). We almost always get a 1 bedroom, even though most trips are just the two of us.

You will love the BLT 1 bedroom - two full bathrooms!

Enjoy!

Fwiw, overall, that's not my experience. We jump back and forth from studio to one to two bedroom based on our needs for that trip. No issues with the changes. We will be going from a two bed at Okw to a studio at bay lake and I anticipate no issues. Just depends on what is needed for that stay, for us.

Us, too - but we strongly prefer the 1 bedroom and almost always stay "home" in a 1 bedroom standard view. It's very tough for me to pay the 1 bedroom points anywhere else (compared to the BWV 1B SV), so our (very few) non-BWV trips are almost exclusively in a studio. :)

This is our situation as well. Usually just the two of us. When we looked at how much our overall trips cost including airfare, dining, park tickets etc. the jump in yearly dues was worth it to us. That is once we have enough trips under our belts to get our room for free( minus dues)

OKW has the biggest 1 bedrooms of the dvc program

Even with just two people I would never stay in a studio again. Especially BL. They are tiny. Nothing beats a full kitchen and laundry. We go a few times a year. Sometimes with 2, often with 4 adults. But we have over 1400 points across 7 resorts so we are lucky.

Another small 'perk' of a 1BR is that they're a little easier to book than studios. That said, I agree with the sentiment. Why stay in a studio when you can just buy more points? Addonitis is not a disease; it's a necessity!

Yeah, BLT's studios stink. Very, very poorly designed. Lots of wasted space in the design. We'll never stay there in a studio again. It's convenient, but that's it.
