Points in reservation status

Can any of the DVC experts answer this questions:

I have a contract that just passed ROFR. The contract is at HH with a June use month. There are some points in reservation status that need to be used by 6/1/06 and some banked points that need to be used by 6/1/06.

I believe on the bank points that I can call and make a reservation anytime, if available, up to May 31, 2006 as long as I complete the trip by May 31, 2006. Is this correct?

On the points in reservation status do I need to make a reservation by 3/31/06 (60 days out) or lose the points?

Luckly this contract was still a good deal even if I lose some points.

For the banked points - you are correct. You only need to use them for a stay that is completed no later than the last day of your use year (Assume that is June).


As far as the reservation points are concerned, the 60 day rule no longer applies (since DVC received the "cash" from CRO to pay for the non-DVC choice when the points first became reservation points). The reservation points will expire at the end of the use year and they cannot be used for an II exchange or a reservation at one of the DVC resorts. Those are the only restrictions you need worry about for those particular points.

If you use your points to make a reservation at certain non-DVC resorts/options, your points are converted to "reservation" status. If you cancel that reservation, the points that are returned to your account are "reservation points".

For example, if you make a reservation at the Poly, the GF, the DCL or something in the Conceirge Collection, and then have to cancel the reservation, you can't use those same points for a DVC resort or an II exchange (because DVC already sent the equvialent number of DVC resort room nights to CRO to pay for your choice that you cancelled). You can only use the reservation points for something else in one of the "Collections" (not including World Passport Collection). You could use them for a stay at the AKL, or towards a cruise or one of the resorts in the Concerige Collection.
