Points in Holding Question?

We have 22 points in holding that need to be used by the end of November. Does this mean we would have to go down and stay at a resort to use our points for us not to lose them, or can we book a vacation at a later time as long as we book it with those points before the end of November?

Here are some guidelines regarding usage of Holding Account Vacation Points:

• These Vacation Points can be used for a new Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation during you current Use Year as long as the reservation is booked 60 or less days before the new check-in date.
• These Vacation Points can be used for an exchange during your current Use Year in two ways:

• For The Disney Collection (except Disneyland Resort hotels in California), Concierge Collection, or Adventures Collection if you're making the reservation more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year for a check-in date that is 60 or less days away.
• For Disneyland Resort hotels in California and the World Passport Collection as long as the reservation is booked 60 or less days before the new check-in date.

• These Vacation Points cannot be banked or borrowed.
• These Vacation Points must be used to complete travel by the end of the Use Year or they will expire.

The short answer is you have to use them, not just book them, by the end of November.
You might check with MS about whether they can be transferred, in case you find someone on the Rent/Trade board who could use them. I was told by MS that holding points can't be transferred but I think that is incorrect. I think they can be transferred but would still need to be used by the end of November and the once/year transfer rules would, of course, apply.

All DVC points use is based on date of stay, not date of booking.
