In looking at all the info our guide gave us last Friday, I do not see how many points it costs us to go places other then Disney property. Where can I find this info out?

I understand this can change yearly, I just wanted to get an idea.

Thanks

This information is available on the member's website which is not available to non-members. I am not aware of another online site to get the info. If you are looking at other Disney resorts - including those in Paris and Disneyland, you can play with the Point Calculator (link at the top of the DVC Forum main page).

If you send me a PM with your email address, I can send you a .pdf file with the point requirements for the Disney Cruise Line. You'll need Adobe Acrobat (free to download if you don't already have it) to read the files. I may be able to send you the point chart for the Conceirge Collection as well.

The points for trading to an II resort (World Passport Collection)are set by season and unit size requested. For example, for low/mid/high season, a week in a 1 bedroom would be 124/144/160 points and in a 2 bedroom, it would be 207/252/270 points. You have to trade in increments of a week if you want to go to a resort in the World Passport Collection.

FWIW, I think you will find the point requirements for the non-DVC options to be quite high relative to the requirments for staying at one of the DVC resorts. For that reason as well as the yearly volatility (increase), it's best not to make the non-DVC options much of a consideration in your decision-making process.

Do you have to trade a week's stay at your "home" for a week's stay at an II resort or do you go by the points only. For example...if you have the minimum 150 points, you can't stay for a week in a one bedroom at Disney, but, depending on when you go, you could using II. Is it an even exchange or just points you're using? Thanks!

I will answer this for you. It is just points. 124 points for a week in a one bedroom during the low season. It does not matter wether it can get you a one bedroom at DVC or not.

What would prevent you from being able to do a trade with a World Passport Collection resort?

Availability. There would have to be a match in the II system. Interval International is the "trading system" used by DVC. You tell MS that you want to trade and they take care of depositing the DVC week into the system. All you have to do is give up the appropriate number of points and tell MS what resort(s), what size unit and week(s) you want in return. They do a search (or an ongoing search) to find a match for you. I'm not sure how long in advance you can deposit or how long you have to look for a match before your trade request expires.

I do not know a lot about how the system works as far as time frames and trading fees go. You might want to post a separate question about trading and see if a few of our resident experts on trading answer. Good luck.
