Could someone give me the total points for the Grand Floridian Concierge (Royal Palm) for Nov. 26 - Dec.2 2002. My DH wants to know what the cost difference would be comparing this to buying DVC. I know the answer but he needs to see it in black and white. This trip is costing $3700 for 2A 2C

Tues. Nov. 26 - 58
Wed. Nov. 27 - 58
Thurs. Nov. 28 - 58
Fri. Nov. 29 - 104
Sat. Nov. 30 - 104
Sun. Dec. 1 - 58
Assuming you are checking out on Dec. 2 the total points needed is 440. I am assuming Concierge on our new point charts means Royal Palm but that would need to be confirmed.

To purchase 440 points at $75 per point would cost $33,000. Of course, you wouldn't need to purchase that many because with banking and borrowing a 150 point purchase could be made to cover this trip. 150 points would cost $11,250. Yearly dues on these points are different for each resort but figure $4 per point the dues for 150 points would be $600.

Staying at non-DVC resorts is never a good use of points. It gives you variety but eats up cost savings. To give you an idea of what you could do at DVC -- a 2-bedroom preferred view at BWV would cost the following in points.

Tues. Nov. 26 - 32
Wed. Nov. 27 - 40
Thurs. Nov. 28 - 40
Fri. Nov. 29 - 75
Sat. Nov. 30 - 61
Sun. Dec. 1 - 30

A total of 278 points.

Since the value of points is around $10 per point, or more in some cases, you'd be better off paying cash if you are set on GF concierge. Personally, I'd consider buying DVC and going with a DVC resort, saving you a bundle in the long run.

I agree with Dean. If you want to stay at the GF do it on a weekend when the DVC points are outrageous. Pay cash for non-DVC WDW locations or stay at a DVC.

Good Luck
