Help me understand. If I have a reservation that begins during say the Choice season but runs through and into the Magic season and we do not leave during this full time, do we use points just for the choice or will it be billed out for the days in choice and the days in magic?

I've always understood it that as long as you begin your reservation in any particular season your rate will be the same for that whole stay even if it runs into another higher points season.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

My understanding is that the points are per day. If you cross a season you pay different seasons points.

I've never heard or been told that. It was my understanding that whatever it says the points are for that day, that is what you pay.

Disney, for its own rentals, has previously followed the practice of charging you a price for your entire trip based on the season you are in on your arrival date but it has been so many years since I did a Disney reservation that I do not know if that is still what it does.

DVC has always been on a per night basis in that any given night costs the points of the season it is in.

When you see the number of points required for a week, it is there for an convenience, not as a rule. So if you book for Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and start in a different season than the holiday, the points you require are calculated by each day.

Thanks everyone!!! Once I was able to use a couple different point calculators I could see you were charged the amount per point for each night depending on what season it fell under. Thanks again!!!

Room only through Disney is now per night. They have different rates for weekends, seasons, etc.

It is per night - We stayed over NYE and the nights before were a lot and the nights after were cheap

THis is good to know as we are going xmas of 2014 and a large family and I notice the points are like HALF as much Jan 1 - 31st....

so we are trying to maximize kids vacation moving into january..like starting Dec27th and then thru the next sat.

SO I would calculate by day instead of use the week! That is good.

Yes, they changed t this method a few years ago likely because people were purposefully arriving lower season and staying through higher season.
