Can you use your points for the New York cruises? You can book the magic in Florida on the DVC member website but not the cruises departing from New York:confused3

I called member services on June 7th to book a cruise on points for the 5 night to Canada on September 7, 2012 and paid the $95 fee.

I just was on the NYC 2 night cruise and used my points. I had no problem, but that was about 6 months ago.

good luck:cool1:

When you book on points does that include the gratuities or are those a separate charge?

You can . But nyc has no new sail dates after this year and none in 2013 . I have my fingers crossed for 2014 nyc cruise .

We're sailing on the Aug. 5th cruise out of NY. We used a combination of points and cash.

Gratuities are always a separate charge.

No, the gratuities are not included. You can charged them to your credit card though at the end of the cruise. They give a 'recommended' amount and then you add up the total for all the people x's days x's people in your party that you need to give a gratuity too. Quite simple but quite expensive. Be prepare that this is a major expense but the service is quite wonderful so it is well deserved.

I think some folks are asking about gratuities being included because DVC/DCL has included them on some DVC Member Cruises in the past. Not sure about the upcoming two DVC Member Cruises, though. That's the only time I've heard of the tips being included for DVC members.

Thinking of a 7 night E Carrib cruise. Can you give me an idea of what I should plan for in gratuities?

Thanks

Jen

DCL's recommended gratuities are $84/person ($12/person per night).
The recommend gratuities cover:
Dining Room Server ($4/person per night)
Dining Room Asst. Server ($3/person per night)
Dining Room Head Server ($1/person per night)
Stateroom Host/Hostess ($4/person per night)

If you order a drink from a bar or roaming bar waiter, a 15% gratuity will be added automatically. There will be a line on the receipt for additional gratuity.

Most items from room service are free, but a gratuity will be expected when the items are delivered. Some items have a charge, like can soda, and those will have a 15% gratuity added to the price.

Thank you for that link! I'm bookmarking all these helpful links since it seems like I can't find them on my own. I looked for a while yesterday and just didn't come across it!

So $84 pppn, and there are 4 of us, so I can figure at least $336 in gratuities.

Thanks for your reply!

Cruising on points (how to).

Step 1). Rent your point to someone.

Step 2). Take the proceeds of the rental and pay cash to book the cruise.

Step 3). Deposit the left over hundreds of dollars in your bank account.
