Points allocation

I banked my '07 points(160). In '08, I have a planned vacation using 142 points. I also have a waitlist for a few days during the same time for 101 points. My question is, if the waitlist goes through, which year's points will be used? Will MS reallocate the points to make sure the banked points are used first? Is that even an option?

If you have already banked the '07 points, MS will most likely use those points before using aby '08 points. However, once your waitlist comes thru, I would verify with MS that the banked points were used just to be sure. Their usual priority is to use banked points before current points, but I'd always check.

BTW, this does not require any reallocation of points at all. If you originally made a reservation using your '08 points and later banked '07 points and wanted to use those for the existing reservation, it would require a reallocation - they would probably need to cancel the original reservation and rebook using the banked points ... and it would be best to verify that you'll be able to keep the reservation before having them "cancel" anything.
