Looking for some answers from the ever helpful dis board ppl. :worship:I have never done a point transfer before and have some questions.
1) What is the easiest way to accept a transfer from someone and
2) how safe is it. I know the person transfering would need my member number. Nothing really can be done with info since MS always verifies by obtaining your last 4 ss #'s, right?
3) I've also heard of usinga a 3 way call. I guess this would help so I know the points are truly the resort and UY offered.
Any other comments would also be helpful.
Thanks,
Tina

It is very easy to accept a transfer and no 3 way call is necessary. You do not need to provide your member number to the other party - all MS would need is your name and residence address (probably just city, state) and they can transfer points from an account into your account. There is absolutely no risk to you in any way since the other member will not have any access to your account. The transfer is manually completed by MS, so the points may not appear immediately. If you want immediate confirmation of the transfer then a 3-way call would work, but it is not necessary.

From the standpoint of the transferring member they just need to tell MS how many points they wish to transfer and who is to receive those points.

Enjoy! :)

MS is supposed to confirm with the member receiving the points all the details (number of points UY month and year) and that they are willing to take the points before they do the transfer. It is very spotty as to if and when they follow this procedure.

Really? I haven't done too many transfers but checking with the member receiving the points has never been done for me.

Another caution I would add is to make sure the points can actually be transferred. There are a lot of rules concerning point transfers and many members are not familiar with all of the rules. For example, if the points have been banked they cannot be transferred. If the person who owns the points has already transferred points in or out for this Use Year, they cannot transfer points a second time in the same Use Year. The same applies to the member receiving the points: if they have already transferred points in or out for the UY into which they want to receive these points, they would be out of luck as well. (Since you have never transferred points before, this last issue does not apply to you in this case.)

Yes this is the way it is supposed to be done, confimed by several supervisors and QA. yes it is followed only sometimes.
