point transfer use question

Hi- I have yet another question( I feel lost) helping Mom with points transfer,we may need to transfer,then possibly bank some of those point for next year,is this allowed?
I know there are rules to how your'e allowed to use the points....any help is appreciated!

I know you can bank transferred points. I just did it. I do know that if the tranferred points are not in the same use year, they retain their use year. Example: I got transferred points in a resale. They had a May use year, all my points have a Sept use year. The transferred points will expire in May not Sept. I banked them into the next year but they still have the same use year. They will now expire in May 2009 not Sept like all the rest of my points.
I don't know what other info you need but maybe someone else can help you. Just remember you can only transfer one time a year. I found out that can be a problem. My resale transferred points counted as my transfer for this year. No more transfers until Sept 2009 or at least that is what they said!

thanks- it is a lot of details... which is why I'm helping Mom wade through this....
We were wondering b/c if we can't rent/transfer the points we need now,we may use next years points,and then hang onto,and bank any transferred points at a later date,as she needs a certain amount for a res. at 11 months...

Because points you receive in a transfer may have a different UY or home resort than your existing points, it is probably easier to borrow your own points for an 11 month reservation rather than trying to find someone who can transfer the perfect set of points to you.

If you give more detals about your UY, current points and points needed for the reservation, you will probably get further advice on the best way to proceed.

Suzanne, I may be able to transfer some points from another Dis'er in the next couple of days- which would likely work out- umm... we can't transfer banked points,correct? So any points would have to be this year-
Mom is looking for an extra 71 points, to use for OKW next January- She's making day by days,for a specific room,etc.(she has the actual details )
Now, if she is able to transfer the 71 OKW points from another member,which are Dec.08 UY,would those work out for making 11 month res. now?

Yes, your Mom can use Dec 08 UY OKW points to book at that resort for a stay from 12/1/08 to 11/30/09, up to 11 months before the check out day of your stay (or day by day at the check out date of each night of your stay).

Once transferred, those points can be banked by your Mom and used for the next year as well (reservations from 12/1/09 to 11/30/10).

Your Mom would not be able to trasnfer again into or out of her 08 UY.

Does she need a transfer or could she borrow some of her own points for the reservation? Transfers are usually easier to find when you don't need the points for a 11 month reservation because you can receive a transfer of points from any home resort.
