Last year, we booked a one bed room in SS in August, then later on, we cancel it and rebooked the 2 bed room in SS. Yesterday, Dh looked at the points balance statement and saw a 6 points deduction penalty for this transaction. Is this right? I didn't realize that there is penalty when canceling and rebooking. Please help. Is there anything we can do to get our points back? Thanks.

Thanks for any answer.

i never heard of that before,it doesnt sound right to me. i have done that a bunch of times, and have never had a point reduction because of the transaction.

I don't know of any penalties allowable under our contracts.

However, the point difference for SSR between a 1BR and a 2BR is 6 points in Dream season (the end of August is in Dream season). Could this just be the point cost differential?

There is no point penalty for cancelling a reservation. There may be circumstances when points from a reservatoin cancelled within 30 days may have restrictions , but that does not sound like the case here.

I'd certainly call MS for an explanation of the discrepancy. Is this a printed "official" accounting of your DVC transactions with a line listing of a "charge" of 6 points for a "cancellation penalty" or are there just 6 points difference in what your records show vs MS total?

Please report back when you get an explanation.

Ahhh- I'll bet that's the answer. The transaction would show an additional 6 points used for the new reservation. :)
